It has to be called "Angels of Death" doesn't it ? Anything else won't cut it, I've never been a BA player, but I grudgingly admit they are pretty neat and sanguinious did lift a daemon above his head and break it's back over his knee. Even Chuck Norris cannot do that!

Several people have asked for the view point of the guard/imperial army. Half of Legion was from the perspective of Imperial Army "geno-troops" on campaign, who become involved with the Alpha Legion

I would like to see a small, short story about the Horus Heresy from the view of the Eldar. I mean, they dabble in fortunetelling and fortune seeing, so I bet they knew full well what was going to happen but refused to get involved, knowing full well what a pain in the ass Horus and Abbadon are going to be.

Orks too. If they think Space Marines are dead 'ard, what would that mean in comparison to a Primarch or even the Emperor? The walking-versions of Orky Valhalla?

On the human element: I would love to see the journey of a Colchisian as the Primordial Truth gradually returns on Colchis, maybe elaborate on the idea that Chaos worship still saturated Colchisian society in the criminal underground even during the Great Crusade, while perhaps the Covenant still followed the Old Ways in secret, overseen by Kor Pharon.

They kind of did that with the Fulgrim book. However they could go a bit deeper into this.

They just didn't fight at the Battle of Terra or get slaughtered at Istvaan. They've always had a part in the Horus Heresy storyline. The Dark Angels original fluff for the Heresy was that there were no records of them fighting on either side. At least the Ultramarines were originally credited with destroying a large force of Horus's reinforcements.

I'd honestly like to see even one HH author remember the Imperial Army. Just one book where they do, lol.

Legion was from the POV of Imperial troops.

I have to second the opinion of others here. The HH is simply a cash cow in my opinion. They needed to strike out with this new series of books with a clear objective/story. 10 novels TOTAL all written by Dan Abnett would have been perfect. All in perfect alignment.

I gave up on the HH novels at Mechanicum.

I don't mean to be rude, but ever since GW became a publicly traded company (Selling Shares), everything they do is milking the "Cash Cow", You've gotta pay the shareholders the annual dividend and keep them all happy. The Iconic Space Marine is the biggest Cash Cow of all.

Hey hey now. I love my space marines *makes hugging gesture*.

What you say is true, not rude. And I concede that. BUT! That doesn't mean they had to make the HH novels last 50 books. They could have made the story more concise.

The story is meant to be an epic tale of betrayal and deceit. While some books (like Battle for the Abyss) are kind of pointless, most are reasonably important.

Battle for the Abyss, was a bit weird, It kind of didn't fit. It would have made a decent side plot line to Dan Abnetts "Know no Fear" about the battle of Calth. Intercepting a Word Bearer's force due for Calth.

I didn't think Battle of the Abyss was weird. It was just absolutely terrible. By itself it could easily put someone off to the entire 40K novel line. I mean, nobody will accuse any of the novels of being "good", but some of them are reasonably fun and readable. Abyss was perhaps one of the worst Space Marine stories I've ever read. I remember writing up a short review of it, but I've even erased from my mind most of the things I hated about it. Honestly I'm not sure there was anything good about it.

I'm pretty convinced that the only author capable of doing Warhammer 40k justice is Dan Abnett. I stick to his work and do not deviate now.

Personally I’d love to see a book exploring the idea of an “Alternate History” version of the Horus Heresy (where someone other than Horus became the traitor instead).

It would never happen in a million years but it would be an awesome read.

Try the Dornian Heresy, on Bolter and Chainsword.

Don't read too much or you will embarrass yourself by learning the wrong canon.

@mwnciboo
I’m already aware of the Dornian Heresy. Whilst it was good, I reckon “Alternate History 40k” could be done much better.

Imagine something like the Dornian Heresy written by Dan Abnett…That would be awesome.

Yes, but I have yet to read any of his work. I've heard it's good. Which novel of his would you recommend I start with?

I'd recommend Soul Hunter and Helsreach, maybe Cadian Blood if you like IG.

I would start with who ever you like better, Black Templars, then give Helsreach a go. If you like Night Lords better then give Soul hunter a go then Blood reaver. There is a great short story about Talos and his band in ' Fear the Alien" Called The Core, it ties in nicely with the Soul hunter books.

I also highly suggest 'The First heritic'. I hated the Word Bearers until I read that. The man just knows how to right 40k and 30k even better. Savage Weapons is a HH ear story about The Night Haunter and The Lion. Aurlellion is a limited edition novella about Lorgar and his little jaunt through the eye of terror.

He's got a audio drama comming out called ' The butchers nails' about Angron and the World Eaters.

Basically anything the man touches turns to gold. and yes I am a unappoligetic ADB fanboi.

If you have heard Legion of one go ahead and read my comment if not then wait.

Spoiler:
I would love to see another book with Loken since Garro found him alive on Isstavan and saved him from his insanity.

Were Arbites around Pre-Heresy? Or did they come in later. If pre-heresy that would be an interesting book, a Loyalist Precinct holding out against the Emperor's Children or something similiar. That would be epic. Arbites. Overmatched and outgunned by Traitor Space Marines, trying to protect the civil population (the forgotten element of the entire Series, the poor civilians).
