We had that problem. We almost lost our Alpha Legion chap in the very first fight to a rather beefed up feral-worlder with a chain axe. Wasn't pretty*. Then during the last session our psyker managed to conjure up ghosts as a psychic phenomena, which scared the Astartes and made him throw up into the faceplate of his helmet. He didn't seem to mind the other phenomena when a bloodletter was conjured into existance. In fact he twocked it rather hard with his power sword.
Our party are now off to grab a sacred artifact from a bunch of SoB. For that job we've brought my characters army along - 2 corrupted Mordian Guard Regiments who serve Slaanesh, giving me 350,000 Guardsmen with which to crush the Sisters. How my character is planning to defile the shrine on this planet I will leave to your imagination, except that I can give you a hint that it involves my character, who is a Slaaneshi apostate, and hopefully some captured Sisters of Battle. Let the good times a-roll!
*He was really unlucky with his rolls, and he forgot about his power armours systems, plus the feral-worlder Guardsman was a beefed up player-character from the previous DH campaign - we switched over mid-fight from our Imperial party to our Black Crusade party.

Wow, that's one helluva battle. We were unlucky all day with rolls. As a starting party on our second session, we were rolling well above seventy all day. I can't remember how many times I missed making a success by only one or two digits. Learning curb though, the GM wasn't expecting the daemons to wail on us so hard and he's an experienced GM and played quite a bit of 40k roleplay now but hasn't GMd 40k before. Throwing up in your helmet is just gross. Funnily enough, a guy I used to do kendo with told me how easy it is to pull a helmet off to barf, without undoing any of the ties first, when you cop a lot of head shots whilst training first thing in the morning, hideously hung over from the night before.

Oh squee.
After pouring over the books for the last two months, thinking I couldn't get my piloting any higher in anyway whatsoever, I realised whilst we were playing last night that last rank I've had Talented available to me!
Oh yeah - 108 for piloting our flagship
It was a really good game. Unfortunately it was really good because a couple people couldn't show up. The guys that couldn't show are great people, nothing wrong with them, but it meant we had five players at the table instead of 7-9 and the game flowed so much better, lots of real RP and negotiations without anyone getting bored, distracted or annoyed.
The planet will be ours. Oh yes. Yes it will.

None of the 40k RPGs allow to make Eldar. In Into the Storm expansion for RT you can play an Ork Freebooter PC or Kroot mercenary PC but other than that, it's human (or post human for DW and BC) all the way. And the ork PC still doesn't sit well with me, after pouring over the material to see if it would work. After extensive discussions with people, we came up with one very specific scenario where they may almost work. Not really good enough to include as a character option.

There are plenty of reasons why Orks could be involved. You just wouldn't listen to any of them and kept a very narrow view of what was acceptable.

I'm not getting into this again. This is a fun thread. The behaviour of yourself and others on that thread was so appalling I stopped visiting dakka for some months. I even PMd you and explained my stance and reasons which you chose to completely ignore. Those who weren't sticking their fingers in their ears and failed at all points to acknowledge the points I made or the rules I could quote helped me come up with a solution, but it was still a very specified and limited situation. If a GM is running an RT campaign where the PCs never come into Imperial Space, which absolutely can be done, there's no question about that, with the...can't remember the word but the specific type of particularly dodgy Lord Captain, which is one of the legitimate archetypes, then sure, they can work. But it's hardly a catchall. And in all the RT campaigns I've played - yes, more than one, most sessions you come into contact with imperial agents, whether the mechanicum or navy, etc so an ork PC player would be bored mindless waiting for the next fight, which would kinda suck seeing as RT isn't about going from combat to combat. Oh, and happy new year. Half past twelve here. Unfortunately we're home cos the b/f's unwell. But it does mean we're painting and assembling from one year to the next..... But not my new Jilted model. That's annoying me right now!

Keep in mind the Rogue Trader is considered a emperor sanctioned corsair that basically is the voice of the Emperor when the Imperium isn't around or is present and accounted for. What this means is yeah, if the ork character was alone he might have an angry mob try and kill him but oif he was walking along side a rogue trader he might be tolerated... remember Blood Axe clan often hire themselves out as mercs if they want to just to get their hands on Imperial Tech and review new defenses they've obtained.
As far as RT i've GMed it quite a bit and had some very interesting stories so far...
Forgeworlds which were so left working and abandoned and over polluted a world so much it was a death sentence to not be in a void suit
Planetary Governor Assassinations
Stopping a Minor Ork waaagh from the Death Skull clan
Investigating a chaos tainted imperial vessel (very dead spacey)
and so on, Personally i had an ork play in these games he proved very useful and tougher than anything I've ever seen which is to be expected. His toughness alone was amazing and eventually he obtained a powerklaw, cyborgnetics for enchanced strength, purchased some 'eavy armor and built himself a KFF from salvaged power field generators he overloaded by punching through a force field generator in a Astartes Bastion to get to a fallen Space Marine Devastator. They've proves to be tough and reliable characters who are hard pressed to die, meaning it's great for new players!
As far as fluff, he made some really good orky jokes and of all things died from falling to his death in mega armor personally I thought it was hilarious when once our Rogue trader and his group were all trying to pose as a landing crew leaving a Aquila Lander and part of this mysterious group. The pilot of the ship was held hostage and the AA defense tower operator was mind controlled by our pysker to allow them clearance. As they were all walking off the Aquila a escourt service came to greet them and all was going well till the ork stepped out of the vessel looking like a cyber nob as suddenly everyone just opened fire including the AA turret. Luckily his KFF absorbs the brunt of the damage as the Nob Gutsmasha only got mad and ran at the tower cleaving it off it's pillar and pushing it off a cliff while the crew + the enemy escourts all stopped firing and stared in horror to what he did.

The ork was a Mek he preferred to stay on the ship as was and dabble with looted imperial tech (this was his form of payment). When he did leave the rogue trader had arranged papers with the Adetpus Astartes which captured him a documentation of a Sanctioned Xenos (it's in the book) this sanction is recognized a legal contract to the High lords of Terra and i made as a trade off that the players would need to bribe the Marines to release the ork into their custody. I had him cost 3 profit factor but the group was willing to pay for it. Ultimately it's nice to have the ork player if they are decked out right to really spice up encounters.
My area was kinda made up imperial space... i could never find star charts or anything so it proved difficult to make good planets and systems so i normally made them up and kept to the fringes mostly. But we did reside in an Imperial Hive World for while.

Whatever you say CC. The fact that they came up with the concept of "Sanctioned Xenos" shot holes through your argument that you'd never be able to go anywhere near an Imperial authority. The fact that the Ork (and Kroot) are allowed means that they are allowed. Will they fit into every situation? Of course not. But they fit into far more situations than you were willing to accept. Furthermore you came into that thread with a narrow one-answer point of view, and got snippy and claimed to be a 'more serious player' than everyone else. When anyone came up with a different view that didn't conform to your's you dismissed it or belittled them as not being as serious or as good as you and your group. If anyone had to analyse their behaviour, it was you.

I started the thread cos I was asking for help and when you came up with ideas that didn't work, you got all angry and high and mighty because I didn't drop to my knees and worship you for blindly taking your suggestions that weren't viable. Everyone else who I explained the extended situation to, as I did yourself, understood what I meant and what I was getting at and went out of their way to help, but even after I thanked people for helping when we came up with a solution, you continued with your holier than though attitude. Or is this an "everyone else is wrong and I'm right" situation? Big Mek,
sounds like you made it work for your campaign, sounds kinda cute I still don't think it would work for us in our current campaign, but you get that. I am disappointed that the campaign we were gonna play with an ork and kroot PC didn't eventuate (I was gonna get to play the kroot). i could never find star charts or anything Umm. The charts are in the books. We use them heavily in all our 40k RPGs (except DH but some of the PCs don't even know that space exists yet in that game). Automatically Appended Next Post: SQUEEEE! Let me rephrase then:
You started that thread with your mind already made up, a bit like someone who jumps into the army lists sub-forum, posts a list, and then yells at anyone who even attempts to give them advice. Anyone who suggested otherwise was told that it wasn't a 'serious' enough answer for your 'serious' group, which was laughable.
And of course it wasn't a case of "I'm right, everyone else is wrong". It was a case of "This is broad enough so that everyone can potentially be right, and that there is no one true set-in-stone answer". I thought that would have been obvious.
See how easy it is to respond to people without insulting them?

Y'know, HBMC, there's a few times I've wondered if I know you from out of the forums, like, killed off one of your larp characters, or turned you down or broke up with one of your mates or something, with the way you needle and niggle at me all the time over nothing, like dredging up an argument that was done and dusted over six months ago because I make a throw away comment about my personal opinion. But your reputation proceeds you and I've found out you act the same on other forums, too. You're obviously just that kinda person. And it's obvious because of the fanciful way you are twisting the facts or what was said or happened. Your ideas didn't make sense or didn't fit in the setting we had. Deal with it. It was six months ago. Move on! Get more from your life! For throne's sake, give it up! Why am I continuing this? Because I won't sit by and suffer these pathetic insults and twisty turny versions of events. You have a rep, and not a good one. You may wanna think about that. Very close to the ignore button. And that takes a lot from me. Automatically Appended Next Post: Hpred - how'd you end up with the Blood Seeker?

In DH I play a low-mid level Tech Priest named Rasputina Laiyron although due to a custom on her homeworld he name changes to suit present company. So with close company like family or friends she is simply Rasputina and it gets longer or leaves out names the further away from family the present company gets.
Without going into stats she is rather tough and can withstand quite a bit of punishment but is a pushover in CC. Lucky she's a decent shot then.
Outside of combat she's a decent medic and demolitions expect.
Can't really remember much more off the top of my head.
Biggest event for her was setting a lot of frag grenades in a successful trap killing most of them without needing to fight.
