Pred tactics

Now a good tank commander would use his equipment to his advantage. The preds would run up in two waves in the first to turns. The first wave pushes foward and turns at a angle, popping their smoke launchers. The second wave follows and uses that vehicle for cover firing the hk missiles at any target.

The next movemen just switch waves and repeat. Then the preds would be in range. On wave pushing the hammerheads around the field with pot shots while the other wave creates a moblie fire base allowing for maximum fire power shots on the vehicles that scatter from the main formation.

Hammerhead tactics

Braking off into five groups, pairing off in each group to concentrate on indiviual targets using speed, range and strength of the gun to widdle down each enemy group. I group 1 team 1 kills their target on the first shot move down the line. Any remaining shots are support to the next team. Wounded birds would beused as mobile cover firing missiles at any pred close enough. Also, these wounded birds can and would move forward to use their own hulls to create funnels that the preds would have to traverse limiting their los which the skimmers would avoid.

Honestly, the hammerheads would come out on top but bloodied.

The Hammerhead is much more likely to kill a Predator than a Predator is to kill a Hammerhead until the Predator can get within 12 inches of the Hammerhead due to the effects of the Distruption Pod. Quite simply half of the Glances and Penetrations the Predators score just magically don't happen unless they are within 12 inches of the Hammerhead.

So even limiting the fight to the 48 inch range of the Las cannon, the Hammerhead is out performing the Predator 3/4ths of the time.

If we take it out to the Railguns range, then the Hammerhead out does the Predator 5/6ths of the time.

However, these variables can be controlled by tactics and are influenced by the situation. If the Predator Commander can force the fight to happen within the 12 inch window as much as possible or keep the majority of his tanks shielded while focusing fire on small groups of Hammerheads, he should be okay.

If the Hammerhead commander can keep out of the 12 inch band and spend as little time as possible in the 48 inch band he should do okay. Avoiding lopsided engagements where most of his tanks can't fire but most of the Predators can is key.

The Hammerhead holds all the advantages (Firepower, Protection, Mobility) in this fight but that sill won't save a sloppy commander.

It really all depends on the rolls, since they are so close in points.

At 25 vs 25 we should have enough rolls that we should be close to average instead of expecting luck to play a hand.
