1. Finish painting my Freeboter's Fate stuff- at least the Imperials, preferably the Amazons too. Don't buy any more FF stuff until this stuff is painted!

2. Paint some more of my Night Goblin army. I have a fair bit of it stashed away that I bought over the last two years(ish) - I'd like to signifigantly reduce that pile some.

3. Paint Super Dungeon Explore - this is my "main" resolution for the year. It's going to take a lot of time I bet.

4. Find someone to play SDE with! Mostly I'm just a painter - but after actually reading through the SDE rules the other night, it actually looks really simple, fast and fun!

5. I think I I'm going to try to sell a few things that I have on Ebay to try to focus on projects I really want to do. Like I have 2 AOBR Ork sets that I really don't feel the need to start as an army anymore. Plus a some misc stuff too I can dump.

That's about it I guess. Barring any big suprises throught out the year.

3. Paint one mob of my Orks...

4. Finish the GF's, and my daughter's, Malifaux crews...and do a bit more work on my own...

5. Get some more Menites painted...

6. Not buy anything else until I get 1-5 done (aside from the Necron second wave, maybe a bit of Malifaux, or WM...and some cases)...

7. Score some more games...40K, Malifaux, and Warmahordes...and get more into the LFGS community.

I've likely set myself up for failure...but, I'm going to have fun trying...

This year I am buying no new armies, starting no new games and buying very few models.

This will be the year I start to paint what I already own. I have almost 100 blister/ boxes of C3. Got a beautiful Carmine dragon to work on. May even pull out my Reaper models.

In reality, I think I am moving away from the wargaming hobby and going back to painting for fun. Each to their own, right?

2014 will be the year of zero GW purchases. Kneadite instead of GS, no paints or models. 2014 will be the year I finally make the move to military models and away from miniature games.

I'd like to be more ambitious as I have tons of other model and terrain projects in various stages of completion, but with new baby, teaching and youth sports kicking my arse on a regular basis I need to prioritize and the green tide needs to actually be green before year's end...

New Year's Resolutions for 2012
So it's finally come to this. I've given it some thought, and I think I've nailed down some concrete goals for 2012.

  1. 400 miniatures. I know I'm capable of more, but if I see myself on track to painting 400 I won't try much harder or sacrifice time with family and friends to get this done.
  2. 50-100 terrain pieces. This also shouldn't be difficult. And the number is meant to cover things such as flags and objective markers as well.
  3. Paint or trash the terrain I have in progress. Right now I have several pieces that have been in progress: water features, buildings, huts. If I don't paint them in 2012, I'm going to trash them in favor of projects that do make sense.
  4. Buy/figure out more storage. The minis are becoming a bit ridiculous, crawling all over the work room as they are. Time to invest in more storage or cut back!
  5. Speaking of cutting back, sell excess terrain. I made a lot of stuff last year. Time to clear some of it out through friends and the Games Plus auction.
  6. Buy and paint some of THIS TERRAIN. This stuff is beautiful and reasonably priced.
  7. To go with the above, play Infinity. Why are you laughing at me?
  8. Paint and play with my Hordes of the Thing army. I planned for Hordes of the Things, I've built for Hordes of the Things, I think it's time I just go ahead and play Hordes of the Things.
  9. Play better? Maybe that's asking for a bit too much.
  10. Play more consistently. This is the year of pMadrak, pHoarluk, eGrissel, and Borka.
  11. Play in the following local scenes at least once in the coming year: Iowa, Madison, Milwaukee, Michigan!

Hopefully I can stick to this plan!

1. Continue building my new Guard army, and paint it as I go. Plan would be to have around eighty Guardsmen and around five Vehicles painted by the end of this year.

2. Finish my outstanding Orks, about sixty Boyz, and fur Vehicles.

3. Paint my Mordheim Vampire warband, and hopefully get some games in this year.

4. Finish my Mordheim terrain, around fifteen buildings, and a further twenty flavour pieces (tree's, fencing, walls etc.)

5. Finish painting my fledgling Infinity forces.

6. Sort out a proper gaming table this year.

7. Get 6th edition 40K, starting new armies based on whats in the box.

Hey everyone, I thought I would bump this so we could all quote ourselves and fess up how we did on last year's resolutions and decide if we were successful or not. By number here are mine:
1. I did finish painting my Imperials, didn't start the Amazons, bought a ton more FF stuff. Gonna have to say failure here.
2. Well, we could quibble about the "signifigantly" part - but I did paint over a dozen Night Goblins, so I'm calling that a success.
3. Finished that in early November! Unqualified success.
4. I thought I had someone who was willing to give it a go - but then I made the mistake of showing him a half-hour video of the rules and he got intimidated and lost interest. Boo. Failure.
5. I sold nothing (though I still have plans on it). Failure.

2/5 = I did pretty bad. What say the rest of you?
