Reece and I have discussed our wolf lists with each to death. It's just two different approaches. I do though feel it's why his Wolves have so much trouble with Orks
As for my list it's changed a bit to incorporate the Barges and I'm down to 8 Lance-Teks . As for the Wraiths I made a couple of stand-in's that are being painted right now that will work but I magentized them so I could just switch the torso to other bodies when the official plastic models come out which hopefully is that rumored second wave at the end of February. Granted at this point I only run 10 Wraiths but at 2k it would just to 15 with the rest of my list.
It's just good to see a very similar list being played while I wait for my toys to come in

Great report guys! I just posted my take on searchlights as well.
Also, did I see that Bjorn searchlit something? He doesn't have one.

Great game! I have noticed that shooty gunlines for some reason never do as much damage as statistics would suggest. Especially if there is as much los blocking terrain as there should be on the table.

Just out of curiousity, is Frontline Gaming by chance working on a part of your necron army? Reece somewhat mentioned you in our game and his company's been doing a lot of necrons lately. Probably when their workload is a little lighter I will commission them to work on a few things for me.
I'm really liking the shooting aspect of this list. I think I will alternate between the wraithwing and my MTO crons for my TAC lists. When the second wave comes out, I think I will incorporate Night Scythes into my list along with the Dooms Scythes. Can't wait.
I'm glad my reports are giving people a glimpse of how good necrons can be. I think there are other necron builds that can be quite good, including tesla-destructor crons with night scythes, command barges and annihilation barges. But that list would require a lot of vehicles and I am afraid that I may not go that route. I'm quite happy with the wraiths here.

It looks like most people play it that searchlights can only be used when the vehicle can legally fire. So be it. My next battle - a rematch of my Crowe-Purifiers and Maximum Overload Necrons - will play it as such.
Though Reece has been playing his SW forever, I'm thinking this may actually be the very first time he's used his searchlights. I think this is a case of assuming that since regular dreads have it, then the character who is a dreadnough must have it as well. I know I've been guilty of making such assumptions before. Heck, I popped smoke on my GK stormraven before!
.

And you would also think they would make them stock for BA and GK tanks! The nerve of some people....

Me too. You can never have enough guns, because the guns you do have is never enough.

Awesome report, thanks for posting it up.
It's nice to see the 'Crons do so well, but I thought the Wolves would've taken this one.

Yeah, Frontline is painting up my Necron army. I started to paint them and then realized I really didn't want to silver highlight that much and shipped them off. Should be done relatively soon and I'm looking forward to seeing them again
As for the second wave I might consider Nightscythes when they come out. I love Tesla Destructors like no ones business (I run 3 A. Barges) so more will make me happy.

I thought you couldnt use searchlights and smoke in the same turn? Since you need to shoot to use searchlights and smoke stops you from shooting.

Yeah, we played it wrong. When we were playing, we both were not aware of this probably because we've both never really used searchlights before. Lol.

nice bump from january
Congrats on winning. Reece's armies are so well painted as well!
Reece/Jy are either of yall going to WargamesCon?
IMO space wolves lost when they deployed so spread out. If they deployed 3/4 towards a board edge in a kinda spearhead thing reece coulda played both his objectives, while playing a forward one, and forgetting about the one across lateral from him. staying together would have allowed for a razor block off of the wraiths, a supported Charge from Bjorn and dreds and hunters and priest, and any 2 of those could have actually put a dent into the wraiths with support. Reece then could have played the far objective with typhoons/massed shooting.
JY2 Im really surprised how you deployed as well, just as spread out. Spreading the warriors out makes sense because the lanceteks already have sight, and it forces him to play both ur home objectives, but spreading your wraith units out REALLY surprised me. You could have compleatly negated his Right Flank shooting tank alot of his firepower out of the fight, then you could have advanced along the Right flank to counter the priests charge, or the left flank. You also can rush up with 1 line in front of the other, and just counter charge your wraiths if they get tangled. I was also surprised you tarpitted 3 wraith units and 2 lords into dreds/Bjorn, that played in Reeces favor alot. I think if you had negated a flank and just bumrushed either right or left you would have collapsed the flank alot sooner and mabe got a tabling. I was also surprised with how aggresively you used your lords to go against razorbacks. Razorbacks arnt important targets, and you coulda got into some juicier stuff.
Imo just weird deployments being so spread out, but its an opinion so meh.

Yeah, Reece's space wolves and footdar are both really nicely done. He is a great gamer and painter as well!
Unfortunately, I'm not much of a tournament goer. Once in a while, I go to the local tournies, but my work schedule (work on the weekends) usually prevents me from traveling to the larger tournaments. But I don't know about Reece.
One thing you'll find out when playing against my army is that, unless you have the mobility to get away (i.e. mechdar, mech- DE), you really don't want to play too closely together. That just makes it a whole lot easier for my wraiths to get to the core of your army and do a bunch of multi-assaults. And don't forget I have 7 lance-teks and 2 annihilation barges to try to take out screening tanks with as well as the speeders. Reece actually played against my MTO necrons before this game. In that game (where he played his anti-meta IG army), he castled up and refused flank me. Let's just say it didn't work out so well.
I deployed like this because he spread out his forces. Doing a refused flank deployment would take my troops off of the far objective, and I didn't want to reserve them. I wanted every lance-tek on the board so that I can begin shooting on turn 1. So deploying as I did gave them some protection. Now if this was anything but Seize Ground, I would have considered it. Also, doing a refused flank deployment would mean that I would have to bunch up my wraiths. Honestly, I am more concerned with multiple frag blasts than I am with those kraks.
Don't think Bjorn was just there for counter-attack purposes only. Reece would've rammed Bjorn down my warrior's throats had I not done something about it. He would have moved towards my objective and after my troops had I ignored him. As for the other dreads, I really couldn't avoid them. They were protecting his troops. I was going after his troops. It was inevitable that we would fight.
Initially, the transports were the only vehicles that my command barges could try to reach. Then he blew up both of my command barges. Thus, my lords were on foot. I also wanted to stop his razors from advancing. They were both a threat to my troops with its assault cannon as well as my objective.
Things might have been different had we tried out some of your strategies. Not necessarily better, but different. The advantage with Reece deploying as he did meant that he had 1 extra turn of shooting and that it wouldn't be easy for me to multi-assault his units.

well that makes sense then.
Its a shame you dont go to the bigger tournies, if you can do that well against reece Id imagine you would see the same success against other players.
