Space Marines do not regroup until the beginning of their own turn. This would make them be destroyed at game's end since they'd be falling back.

The sternguards ability to carry combi-weapons has been discussed quite in depth but I actually really like the special ammo selection they have.
That's why I like to keep them in a tourny environment as they are adaptable to all sorts of scenarios. They do tend to die quickly but they usually do their job of killing the enemie's high value target.
Hellfire rounds are just plain awesome against nyds and daemons.

To get back on the topic of bang-for-your-buck: in terms of $$$ with a SM army you can do a custom chapter paint scheme and then use different special ICs to give your army a different feel: Vulkan for melta/flamer spam, Khan for bikes, Shrike for assault-oriented army etc...
It allows you to keep collecting without getting bored.

Only work with Librarian in Terminator armour. It is also very tricky since GOI might off his units. GOI alone means he will be ID.

You mean vortex? Gate doesnt kill his guys.

It does, roll double => remove one model if he travels with other people.

Why would you put him with anyone? Kinda defeats the purpose of annoying distractor.

Im sorry but this sound like a horrible "tactic"... You want to spend 190pts on a distraction unit that dies horribly to a few lascannons? With the 12" range of VoD you will even find yourself being killed by rapid fire bolters.

I cannot believe in a God who wants to be praised all the time.

Sternguard or Grey Hunters.

EDIT - if HQ Pedro Kantor (Makes sternguards scoring) or Lysander (Makes Sternguard re-roll to hit)

Collecting Forge World 30k????? If you prefix any Thread Subject line on 30k or Pre-heresy or Horus Heresy with [30K] we can convince LEGO and the Admin team to create a 30K mini board if we can show there is enough interest!

TH/SS Terminators
Agreed we (BA) must pay for TH/SS
Predator - AC LC sponsons
I disagree. Yes compared to BA they are 10pts cheaper but are limited to only firing one gun on the move. For us its 6 and all guns and 12" and one gun. And the ability to go flat out.
Whirlwind
They are the same in both so not better in anyway
Vindicator
Again I disagree. You can move 6 and then fire the demolishor cannon. WE move 12" and fire it. For what 10pts fore and we can go flat out if we don't wanna shoot.
Am I missing something?
Looks like Codex Space Marine is really hosed. -_-

The psycic powers are better for C:SM compared to BA and the Wolfies.

Thats why you give him the gear. Plus I spend 150 for crowe and I could care less if he gets killed by 2 lascanons. So a cheap hq dying isnt all that big a deal, but that libby will make you fire at him or he drops a str 10 on you.

A Termie Armor/SS libby with Null Zone and Gate is pretty damn awesome for a Thunderbubble list. If you need them in combat against things like thunder wolves or pallys, then you cast null zone and profit! If you need them somewhere else, you always have the option to use gate.

Well, if you want to use special characters in even an Ultramarines army, you can get a model that has the same wargear as Lysander, for example, paint him up as Captain Agemman (or something similiar) and use him as a "Counts as Lysander".

Shrike can be the captain of the 5th Company, Vulkan the Third, etc.

(I've put to much thought into this.)

Just have to build/paint them without the other chapters heraldry.
