I just spoke to Sharkticon about it and it looks like I'll be running the Sunday meeting regardless.

So, at this point, whoever can make it on Saturday for the tourney can get set up then, and for everyone who can't make it on Sat we'll be doing the 12-1 meeting Sunday.

I'm compiling lists now, so please shoot me a PM if you haven't already with your name, army, and email so I can start getting things sorted. Thanks!

We kick off this weekend for both 40k and WHFB, unfortunately there was some static about exactly when things were getting launched at the beginning of the year, hence the offset start times.

The Showdown for the first Series will be up here at GE Pasadena, which means our format. I'll be judging, with a couple assistants.

We're going to do up the Luxurious Upstairs Gaming Showcase (tm) nice, and have a panel of commentators up there for the games (en Espanol as well! ) for the live stream. Should be pretty fun.

I propose that we use the BAO multiple mission format.

Keep's everyone on the same page.

It will most likely be a multi-mission format, though I like the idea of putting varied weight on the different objectives. One-for-one like BAO provides more of a potential for draws than I'm comfortable with.

Once I've decided what I want the missions for the final showdown to look like I will post them, so everyone knows what to expect.

Hmmm.

For the finals I don't think there should be a varied weight on different objectives.

I'm fine with having the finalists roll up a book mission and deployment. But that leads up to alot of potential rock-paper-scissor situations which the BAO mission format weeds out.

A tie break for the BAO mission could be victory points.

I have to admit that if VPs are used as a tie breaker than the BAO mission becomes a lot better. I would rather we substitute C&C in the BAO mission for something like table quarters. if we don't go the tie breaker route.

Dave's biased toward the BAO missions, you can tell by his sig!

I do like how they're going to be doing it at the GE San Diego GT later this year, where you at least get half points for tied objectives (which, is kinda like giving the different objectives varying weight, just a little bit ).

We'll see. Thankfully I oversee 40k games in an official capacity constantly, so I have a lot of opportunity to test scenario ideas and theories.

*SUPERMEGAEDIT- - -
Regardless of what the mission(s) look(s) like at the end, there will be a clear, established tiebreaker criteria. No draws for the top table!

That would be a ridiculous outcome.

I'm excited for this business to kick off. I think my BA list that I was testing out saturday is pretty beastly.

Jeez. These dudes beat me to my own thread!

Yes, final tally for Northern Conference was 14; fewer than I'd hoped but I talked to a lot of guys over the last month and I heard a lot of lamentations of the intrusions of Real Life (tm), and I can't yet force people to do my bidding, so...

Two full divisions, Bolter and Chainsword, built predominantly by player location, with out-of-division pairings determined randomly.

Results to follow as they develop.

Looking forward to seeing things develop.

How did you do out of division pairings when no one has finished in division?

All random?

The way I understand it was that the out of division were all random.

Random? I was assigned two ork armies!!
...
Um, I'm not complaining, four plus venoms, you know.

Although I do think the "Bolter" division ought to be renamed "Casey gets schooled by So.Cal's best 40k players."

I like what Dis said about the division being hard-core though. Tough buncha bastards, we are.

All of the out-of-division pairings were randomly assigned. Keeps things clean and simple throughout the regular season. Now we'll see about getting some numbers to put in Dave's fancy spreadsheet!

Quick update, added in two new players that resulted in a small mix-up of the divisions. New info will go out to league players today, the thread on the GE forums has been updated as well.

http://gameempirepasadena.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=52&t=1124

We are locked in at this point; unless I get enough people wanting to join that could constitute an complete division there will be no more add-ins.

Ya, if I had been list tailoring; I would have brought Paladins. They would have done much better against his Fate-Crusher build. I hate facing down 23+ Blood Crushers with re-rollable saves!
