Let's see: fingers, knuckles are the usual ones.

One time I stabbed myself in the top of left leg. There is still a slight scar; it went in deep.

Lesson learned: ALWAYS cut AWAY from your body; and if you really need to press hard, do so on the table.

I've never cut myself with a hobby knife, I have however burned myself on an ancient hot glue gun before.

Being a long-time model builder, I've had all of the requisite slices and gashes of the thumbs and fingers, plus one on the palm (don't sneeze when your hands are close together...all I'm gonna say on that one). Worst case had to be when I was about 13, building an AV-8B Harrier model, I sliced into my thumb, and didn't notice it until I saw the canopy covered in blood...several paper towels and a little pressure and superglue later, I discovered I had cut about 1/16" deep and 1/2" long...superficial, and painless at first, until I had to wash it out the first time...ouch.

I can't remember I am usually pretty careful so finger tips for me I'd guess.

However I do recall an incident when I was coming back from the kitchen having cleaned off the exacto knife and came around a corner to suddenly find my brother standing there who promptly yelped having been "Accidentally" stabbed in the thigh with it. He still has the scar and is bitter when reminded of the incident.

I cut myself usually on my fingers, like most.

Unrelated, but I spent a LONG time in the Marine Corps. I had a young marine come in one day with a....shall we say...severely damaged pelvic attachment. Poor kid could barely walk, and the pain killers made him a hoot to be around. Turns out that he was airing up his bicycle tires and on the last great pump (it was hilarious to see his vicadin drugged self reenact this...) he got the 1 in 1,000,000 money shot and managed to crush his little unit between the pump body and the pump handle. True story.

One of them filthy casuals...

The "scariest" hobby injury I had:

I was using a multi-temprature soldering iron (with xacto tip) to cut thru some thick plastic. I got frustrated and started pulling towards myself and the blade hit a weak spot in the plastic and flew through it.
The hot blade imbedded in my gut (about 4 inches above my navel) all the way!
I had melted plastic around the cut that I had to peel off, but It only bled for a second.
It took about 2 weeks to heal shut.
It REALLY scared me for a minute or two.
Good thing I had on my winter weight.

I routinely cut my fingers. All the time, shallow things. Just trying to work too fast, etc. I know its a good 'un when the super glue bubbles up into a blood blister before it hardens...

I have two magnificent cuts in my left hand, though. Both from similar events to gregor_xenos, i.e. hitting a weak spot. For m, both were resin models, one a gigantic Cthulhu, the other my squiggoth. In both cases, I was using an extremely sharp scalpel (for cthulhu) or xacto knife (squiggoth) to power through some large, thick, excess crap from the casting. Even though in both cases I was aiming AWAY from myself generally, enough force was required so that when I hit the soft spot, the knife went wild... directly into the hand holding / angling the model.

Cthulhu cut was into the base of my thumb, in the thin skin, and required about 6 stitches. Doc laughed his ass off when I explained what happened, and admired how clean the cut was, saying, "If you're going to do something stupid like this, at least you did it with a scalpel!" I was amazed to see bone lining, etc, before stitches went in.

Squiggoth was recent (December, I think). The blade ended up in the base of my palm, near wrist. The cut about an inch long, and deep enough that I could see fatty palm tissue leaking out. Bled like hell, too, and was taking a while to stop. Since I was not in the mood to pay $100 copay and sit all night in the ER, I taped it up after checking for movement / feeling. Had to use butterflies and medical tape because of the movement popping it open. Took a couple weeks to finally seal up all the way....

Non modeling related, as a kid, I was using an exquisite sharp filet knife to clean a fish. Again, hit a soft spot, and knife flew up and sliced right into my left pointer finger knuckle. Cut a deep V-shaped gash. The coolest part? It healed back on so I have a V-shaped scar.

Does the accident have to be while modelling? >_> I used a modelling knife to open a kinda egg once, that was a messy mistake those little plastic balls are more slippery to blades then they appear...

I can probably trump most of you. done the usual minor cuts whilst modelling nothing too horrific.

but on one occasion i was fixing the shower and a part required roughting up to make the glue work better. off i went for my modelling knife and duely set about the. stupidly i electrocuted myself, and so began to spasm. it was all over pretty quickly but in my alert state time slowed down as the arm with the knife lost controll and slowly move towards my chest. i had time to think oh dear, im going to stab myself, this will hurt, its a small knife so I should be alright, oh, that doesnt hurt as much as i though it would, not much blood really, over now, good good.i then dropped the knife and it nearly hit me in the foot. so i called my big brother, the surgeon, who promptly said he was too busy to help gis little bro who was clearly in shock and confused and he would come round tomorrow evening instead (i heard his then ex in the backgorund, such a useless brother). then flatmate took me to A&E for three stitches. sent text to gf "cant come to dinner, stabed myself, long story, at hospital" then phone ran out of battery so no-one heard any further for hours. all in all a bit of an epic fail.

i also got the shower fixed again last week, but this time called a plumber, my wallet is still bleeding, possibly a fatal wound.

Other than the odd slip, couple of mill slices in my finger tips when cleaning plastic mold lines, when not concentrating the only serious one was my thumb.

About twelve years ago, rushing to go out, trying to cut off a bit of a metal from an old predator tank. Slipped, and sliced a one inch 'U' shapped cut that was almost a cm along the inside of my thumb.

Hurt and bleed like hell, off to hospital, one stitch later and its still clearly visable. At least it doesn't cause me to shiver down the spine when I accidently rub it these days mind.

Once upon a time, I used cutters with break-off Blades ... several times, the snapped off blade pieces jumped somewhere, where I couldn't find them immediately. Those usually ended up in my feet when I stepped on them (mostly during the nigth) .....

Other than that, I can only report of the usual finger / hand cuts when working with the knifes.

Mostly I've maimed my fingers and my hand but I once put an exacto blade into my cheek, to the bone, just below the eye.

My Brother has bumped me and I dropped a hobby knife into my foot, I've punctured my index finger on my right hand, sliced both thumbs and pinkies several times and I have a scar on my index fingers base segment where I drove my knife in there while trying to clear out some resin cast.

I have literally no thumbprint left on my right thumb. It's great when I soak up in the bath, my thumb opens up like the grand canyon ... multiple times. It's pretty much a guarentee that I'll slice the thumb open with every new model. I like to think of it as a permenant memorial to each figure.

I would love to hear how people have put a hobby knife to their face though.

How does one injure their neck with a hobby knife? Raise your arm and accidentally cut your throat? At that point GIVE UP the hobby because you obviously cannot handle it

I got tons of scars on my fingers is all

Sliced my finger pretty deep, but having just gotten 5 stitches for a work accident it didn't feel like much. Nothing really special to tell, though the sucker would randomly start bleeding and I'd leave a little blood pool on the carpet for the apt complex to get out after I moved out.
