Oh yeah that is true. You can't. Still though... it brings the question as to why would you? If you are going to assault from the vehicle anyway then why not just deep strike them by themselves?

For arguments sake you could use a drop pod for a turn 1 assault, but as it has already been proven they can't have this rule in a dp

Counts as deep striking is not deep striking. People don't like that reasoning, but it holds true.

This has been proven wrong in nearly every case I can think of. "counts as" means the same thing as "is".

Do you have any reason to believe this or example where something "counts as" something but isn't treated exactly the same as that thing? Otherwise, it just doesn't "count as" in fact.

Agree with Nemesor Dave.

Everywhere in the rules, "counts as" means "functions for all purposes as being".

It used to be the old argument for models or unit that counted as Jump Infantry being the exact same as Jump Infantry. The FAQ put that line of reason to rest.

Are you allowed disembark from a deepstriking vehicle?
The droppod says you have to and I don't have the rule book to hand so I wonder are you allowed to?
Since HI only allows you to assault only when you deep strike, if you can't disembark normally then you can't get out of the ship to assault in the first place.

It's not the size of the blade, it's how you use it.

What FAQ are you talking about? Models that count as Jump Infantry are indeed the exact same as Jump Infantry. There is, however, a difference between JI and models which "move as" JI.

Of course. A DSing vehicle counts as moving at Cruising Speed. You can disembark from a vehicle moving at Cruising Speed. The pod rule is to make clear that you can't stay embarked.

Right. People used to argue that models that "counted as" Jump Infantry were not affected by things that affected Jump Infantry because they were not, in fact, Jump Infantry, which is ridiculous.

The FAQ I am referring to is the Tyranid FAQ where it says that something with the Wings biomorph may deep strike. This further solidified the defense of the above argument, that even a monstrous creature that "moves as Jump Infantry" can deep strike.
