Incidentally, I wonder if Southern Asia generally has the same kind of sensibilities as the North?
In South Korea, there is generally an impression that you can't show off bare shoulders. Hotpants disappearing up the crack of your arse are fine*, but oh-no definitely not anything below the neck. Which is kind of strange, as the Korean physique is generally more flat-chested than Western.
Sad thing is, this is what many in the Republican party wish our government would be more like...

What's more, I hate how it permeates so many facets of our culture. Have you seen many advertisements lately? Hell, any sitcom. I hate not that it's common, but rather, acceptable. Somewhere along the line, we realized that the lowest common denominator was fething stupid, and they were okay with it.

What?
Men get ripped on because we know they can take it, being naturally better in almost all respects than women (strength, intelligence, confidence).
If you publically said "LOL women are stupid and weak" there'd be outcry, because mocking the weak is usually seen as morally deplorable, mocking the strong is all in good humour.
