Well, I guess it's lucky that the people complaining weren't around in the 70's/80s? The Russians died in their thousands to the likes of Stallone and James Bond.

The premise behind Homefront was ridiculous. Shame that the company that made it wasn't prepared to take the ban in China and released the game with them as the protagonists, and it makes you wonder if it might have sold a bit better. There would still be an element of disbelief (i.e. anyone who knows anything about global politics and the economy knows that an attack on the US just won't happen), but at least you could hypothesize some kind of possibility that their military would be capable of reaching the mainland US. North Korea? Hohohoho..

On the other hand, any kind of nationalism when playing a computer game can get a bit tiresome. When you still see someone using German tanks being called a 'Nazi' in World of Tanks, it's obvious that this kind of thing won't stop with the death of the generation that was actually involved in the conflict.

and in the case of Cod it really shouldn't be even an issue of discussion, they've used the same formula of killing Russians since the first game they made.

What? no

NO NO NO

Seriously, does anyone remember what the original CoD games were? They were WW2, and you played as the russians (and brits and the US as well), shooting the russians is a new thing

Ya I dont think anyone actually remembers the originals. Anyone who says that all the CoDs are bad simply thinks Modern Warfare = all Call of Duties ever.

However I wouldnt say it is a "new" thing, plenty of games doing it for a while but the first like 5 Call of Duties had no Russians in it or you were the Russians.
