How much Nerd Rage will erupt with 6th edition  [RSS] Share on facebook Share on Twitter Submit to Reddit

How much nerd rage will happen when 6th edition rules drop
A great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of nerds suddenly cried out in terror, and were suddenly silenced
Most people will say "It sucks!" and move onto other games
Some people will like it, some will hate it
A few people will quit, the majority will embrace it
Everything's shiny, Cap'n. Not to fret.

I'm not worried at all. This is the best news I've heard in the past few months I've been investigating the game.

New stuff means a chance to correct some evils

I'm optimistic. I'll only be upset if the new rules are bad, and even then - maybe the new rulebook is the harbinger of new Codexes?

Fang, son of Great Fang, the traitor we seek, The laws of the brethren say this: That only the king sees the crown of the gods, And he, the usurper, must die.
Mother earth is pregnant for the third time, for y'all have knocked her up. I have tasted the maggots in the mind of the universe, but I was not offended. For I knew I had to rise above it all, or drown in my own gak.

There will be much nerd rage.
Matt Ward will then take the distilled essence of said nerd rage and use it to write his next codex

But really, there shouldn't be a problem if people are smart enough to read the rules before crying about how "bad" they are.

Damn the haters, Full speed ahead!

Just as when 4th edition D&D was released, were going to see a small (and very vocal) portion of the player base quit with major nerd rage.

Armies will be sold cheaply on ebay as half of them liquidate their armies swearing never to play a GW game again. The other half will swear to only play 5th edition and hold 5th edition events -- cradling their rulebook like a puppy.

80% of them will be playing 40k 6th edition with their friends again in 6 months time.

Well done for characterising any and all disappointment with the new edition as 'nerdrage'; that's both constructive and honest.

I'll try out 6th edition, I'll even buy the rulebook, but if the sum of the the changes is as mechanically clumsy and poorly-balanced as the leaks suggest, I don't imagine that I'll be impelled to play more Warhammer 40,000. If it disappoints the rest of my gaming friends as much as I anticipate it will myself, then with luck it will be just the impetus we've all needed to try out Warpath or Project Pandora.

Besides, I'll always have Space Hulk.

Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit, sir. I am fallen into using in the past as well, and I find it never adds to a discussion.

As I am sure you know there is a difference between these two statements
"OMG WTF ALLIES! I QUIT!!!!1111"
"I'm disappointed with the ruleset of 6th edition, and you know -- I think warmachine is the game for me"

This thread is to question how much the prior will occur, and not the latter.

The internet can't separate "change" from "apocalypse". It will be the biggest, and most pointless, shitstorm about 40k there's ever been.

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

When people ask, "What's the point in understanding everything?" they've just disqualified themselves from using questions and should disappear in a puff of paradox. But they don't understand and just continue existing, which are also their only two strategies for life.

Probably work

Nerd rage about 6th edition is getting old already. Everyone's just bandwagoning on. Cool kids like me are already launching their nerdrage about 7TH edition. I mean, c'mon guys, it's only like years away and it's gonna completely force me to buy new models!

I'll be buying some armies off ebay fairly cheaply when the rage-quitters start!

As I said on /tg/ buy one of every army for 90% off. Might need to strip a lot of paint. Then again I can finally make a space marine chapter without sacrificing much of my Imperial Guard budget. Buy hordes of assault marines, paint them gold and I will field my Golden Angels chapter. A Blood Angles successor chapter filled with gold plated ego maniacs.

As we all know, it will be epic.

There is no point to this discussion. Obvious troll is obvious.

I don't know why the mods haven't come down yet.

As a discussion grows in length, the probability of a comparison to Matt Ward or Gray Knights approaches one.
