I figured it would have been the treadmill edition to work off those excess calories from the pancake edition.

every stat line will have a Calorie stat added, you score an extra KP for each unit which gets their calorie score to 0 by moving and running and fighting in CC

I guess you have missed all the threads about new game systems, invalid armies, and wish lists for 6th edition, huh? Well, since we're wasting server space, why not indulge?

There will be quitters and new recruits to the 40k stage. Its the nature of the beast that is gaming. Some people can't handle change, they are either the pepple who sell everything, two months down the road are happy with the changes. Its called growing up.

I am staying in 40k because I want to. I have wanted toget into it for at least 15 years and finally had enough money to do so. Plus, I like the game.

Those with rules-exploit armies will whine if that rule gets nerfed, and gloat if it gets buffed.

Everyone will panic and moan and bleat and scream for a few weeks, until they have got a handle on the new game, then wax nostalgic about the finer points of the previous edition, while wearing rose-tinted mag-viewers...

Some will quit, some will say they will (but won't) and some new folk will join up..


Basically the same pattern as every new edition since RT, but more vocal/sarcastic due to the anonymity and avaiablilty of the net these days..

It's already erupting and the rule book isn't even out, yet.

I am starting to see a few similarities between EVE Online and 40k. In EVE the fans take the game (and themselves sometimes) quite seriously. And every time there is ANY kind of update, whether just some changes to a few ships or a game wide update/expansion, there will ALWAYS be someone threatening to rage-quit.

Most adapt, some embrace and the game keeps going.

Any time Star Wars Galaxies nerfed a Jedi Power by even 1%, the message boards would flood with rage. It was epic in it's nerd-ragery!

Hell, even if the *only* thing 6th edition does is to give me a 1/6 chance of stopping warp quake, it's a vast improvement and a buff for my army over the current rules!

Obviously there'll be more to it than just that... I'm expecting 6th to be like a candy store; lots of goodies, a few bad apples, (hopefully with no razor blades hiding in them), some sourkeys, but overall a delious treat that most will be happy with!

There will be rage, some people will quit. Their favorite faction will get new models and a codex and they will come back (haven't we seen this about 3 times before?). Those few that don't comeback will sell their armies cheap on ebay, making it easier for others to replace them and the wheel will keep turning.

On Dakka? Oh it may just very well be the great gak-storm of our time.

In the real more important life. I doubt I'll hear much unless I shy to the UFLGS.

I know what you mean, the "people" over at warseer are not what i called friendly

Again, Dakka is no different than Warseer or any other board in that regard, Dakka just portrays itself as more witty and the moderators less likely to intervene. If you're seeing a major difference in poster behavior otherwise, it's because you're looking for one.

Maybe other boards are not as negative, but looking at some of the blogs out there -- like 3++ -- I'm seeing some pretty negative feedback.

I expect that many of the internet pundits are going to QQ.

Comments sections on blogs and news articles are always the worst examples of internet behavior

I think the important thing to look at here is not a matter of if there will be nerd rage, but how much nerd rage will there be?

There are more competitive players now, at the dawn of 6th ed than there were at the dawn of 5th. Furthermore, I'd venture a guess that a higher percentage of players are more competitive.

I expect to see more nerdrage, then, than in other editions, as people who had exactly super perfectly crafted lists that were designed JUST to compete at adepticon and nova and GTs will now have to basically buy a second army, as far as they're concerned.

Will this cause a net shift away from competitive players? Probably not. More likely a big group of them will ragequit, but a new group of them will slowly form over the beginnings of 6th with some ragequitters coming back in midway through and towards the end.

I give it 6 months till the ragequitters come back.

When 4th edition D&D was released, my friend IM'ed me saying "This is the worst game I've ever seen. I'm never playing it. Ill just play 3.5 forever"
Six months later he IM'ed me "You know 4th is not that bad. I'm enjoying it, and its still D&D"
I laughed hard when I saw that 2nd post.

Most of the ragequitters will come back after they expelled their rage. Those that don't were looking to quit anyway, and this was just an excuse.
