Wow! Good Start! The 1st Captain needs a retinue no? In keeping with the fluff of the Minos i'd say give him a retinue of brutal CC hitters. Jump packers and maybe a magnetized JP for Alexandro, perhaps magnetize back packs for the unit and have a Land Raider Crusader as an optional transport. I could imagine hoplite looking Vanguard Veterans with SS's and Power Lances. Perhaps Terminators with SS's though they would not have quite the same greek look. Of course if your box is as filled with goodies as Alexandros would lead one to believe, i'm looking forward to whatever you come up with next. You may even want to do a couple Tactical/Combat Squads before the retinue. In any case, i'm subbed!

I am now accepting commissions for any hobby project! I've been in the hobby since '92. Specializing in traditional brush methods, creating a gritty dark aesthetic. From single character models to entire armies. From individual terrain pieces to entire table tops. From tabletop level to masterclass level painting. From purchasing and assembly to leveling up your assembled armies paint job. If it has to do with the hobby I can do it! Hit me up and let's chat about your project!

Oh! Very nice work on these. I'm still in the process of gathering parts for my wife's Minotaurs (which I'll be doing most of the painting for). Pics and conversions like yours make great inspiration!

Loving it!

Well well, very nice starting project!! Although I'm not much of a scholar concerning Minotaurs, I like the way you treated your minis. +1 subbed
As for the next step, though a JP squad sounds great (and I'm a huge fan of JP units), greek Hoplites were famed as being the heaviest infantry of their era (I'm greek so please trust me on this) so terminators would be a viable option to represent that.
Good work, keep it up

Excellent start, the 1st Captain model just exudes danger and power. Moloc is one of my all-time favourites and you've more than done his justice.

For a retinue, I think a full squad of Vanguard Veterans with Power Lances would be awesome, to represent a Phalanx. Throw Storm Shields on half of them and have them as a 'front rank' as well.

Might I inquire where the crested helmets came from?

Thanks for the kind words! I was a bit skeptical that people might be bored of Space Marine blogs (been out of the hobby for a while) so it's good to see people showing an interest.

genom.cor lookie lookie what I dug out! I could use some help IDing these jump-packs and I'm sure there must be a 5th somewhere around here, also I've included the magnet info since these are perfect for GW miniatures.

Legio Ultra I think I need to do a Terminator Phalanx for the Chapter Master, I have a handful of GW models that I will try and convert rather than buying the FW Cataphractii (who do look perfect...). I have these really cool chainblade lances too, which I will probably give to my Sergeants but they'd look great with Combat Shields. Regarding Minotaurs fluff - I'm deviating/interpreting a fair bit! Rather than 'psychotic' I'm going for 'tactically brutal', a bit of a positive spin I guess. They'll be running lots of heavy weapons to break up the enemy before an overwhelming charge by the assault units.

I should say I'll be using the Forgeworld Crusade list since it gives the most flexibility, and cooler unit types. I only play casually and sometimes in narrative campaigns so this will be more about modeling and creating cool units with a fun theme than adhering to a competitive, legal list

PS I will get some more photos up later today, hopefully with some new additions!

Turns out it's from Chaplain Ivanus Enkomi from Forgeworld, I didn't know that when I built the Captain but luckily I have no intention of making the full model anyway.

Azazelx Thank you! I might need some more of them if they work with the guys I have planned.

Awesome!

Another source for the Greek style helmets if you do end up buying more bitz are the Anvil Industries ones, I can't say enough good stuff about them. I used a bunch for my HG and Hammernator squad for my Blood Angels, turned out pretty slick.

CaptainStabby It's funny you should mention that, I checked out your gallery (love the models, the Terminator with the plume removed looks rad) and the heads looked a little familiar, so I dug around for a few bits and...

(Terrible iPhone pics since the camera is packed for hols)

Did him as a Chapter Champion before remembering Legions don't get traditional Champions, so I'll probably swap out a sword for a combi-weapon or shield and make him a Veteran Sergeant. Also a bit of GS work to do still on the backpack.

nice!!! He looks great.

Yeah those termies came out well, that was kinda a crapshoot as to whether or not the helmets without the crests would even fit, need a tiny bit of dremel work on the helmet space and they dropped right in though.

I like your conversion using the Chaplain miniature, I didn't realize that model was so easily converted does his head really come loose or does it require a saw?

Yup the head was loose, probably my favourite Marine head ever produced by GW! Shame it has to come from such an expensive set.

On my hols now, so won't be an update for a couple weeks I'm afraid!
