You are wrong. I got it free from the PSN and it was worth every penny. I finished it on Hard and play the multiplayer periodically. It's entertaining enough. My lady is currently playing through the campaign and enjoying it well enough. She knows little enough about the setting and is finding it fun and informative. That alone makes it a worthwhile endeavor, as I see it.

I still enjoy it. Yeah, the campaign was a little bland, but what did you honestly expect? Personally, I wasn't expecting much from it, and it ended up being a decent game. I liked the multiplayer for a while, but got bored with it....and not having dedicated servers made it very frustrating most of the time. All in all, I still like it, and I don't regret buying the game or the DLC.

I liked Titus because he fixed the thing I hate the most about the Ultramarines, (I actually liek them) he fething thought for himself. I knew I would like him the second I met him with the whole
Leondros "This isnt in the codex"
Titus "Stop being fething slowed"
I liked the LT though she wasnt anything special so I can see how she would be bland.
I liked the Inquistor a hell of a lot. (Read the actual Inquistior, not the possessed thing you met)
The story wasnt very surprising but it was fun, and I had a hell of a lot of fun playing it. Ive replayed it a few times already.
We ALL knew the Inquisitor was going to be evil before the game even came out, I give them credit for at least slightly changing things up (kind, on a techincallity) by actually having it that the Inquistor was always loyal, you just met a daemon puppet.
Is the game perfect, no of course not, but I actually really enjoyed the game and feel its a great addition to the series

You must have a different definition of repetitive than I do. Room to room kill Orks for 5 hours straight. Yeah I didn't say you didn't enjoy the game I meant the campaign is by far extremely repetitive.
Alright I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. What's not repetitive about the story? What keeps the game from being too dull?

You're wrong.
That's the point of this thread, none of us are saying it sucked; but like all games, it has areas we all don't agree with, and think could have been handled better.
Your tone for this type of conversation is very poor, your points are ill conceived and have already been better explained elsewhere in the thread.
Also, please don't try and pull people into a conversation of 'what is fun', because you'll be going in circles for about 100 posts until you both figure out that its different for everyone. This thread is for talking about the design decisions that are within the game that can be discussed with some sort of objective merit; not 'oh its dull and it sucked'.
Of course, since you have all of 17 posts so far, perhaps 100 posts discussing what is fun would be helpful for your introduction to the forum /sarcasm

Let's get one thing straight. This game is terrible in my opinion. it's repetitive boring and dull. If running from room to room for 6 hours and killing the same enemies over and over and over again is fun in your eyes then I envy you because the video game world would be a lot brighter for me.
My point is it was a waste of money for me. I didn't like the story, I felt as though the characters had no depth, and the gameplay wasn't innovative or ballsy.
My other point as how to make the game better would be like what Cappn said, about it having rts elements and larger scale battles not to mention drivable vehicles and different playable races.
The anger I have is because I feel as though it was just a con to get players into the 40k universe by GW.
think about it... Ultramarines, Orks, and of course who could've seen the chaos guy coming??
So please continue your sarcasm about how me contributing to the discussion of the title "Post-Mortem thoughts" is invalid and poorly conceived.

I can agree with you on that. Most shooters (if not all) don't have that in singleplayer. But I feel as though they could've done ALOT more in terms of gameplay and story. Like actually put some heart and soul into the game. I already knew the ending before the game started.
Take Battlefield 3 for instance. In single player your fighting on the streets in Tehran then the next thing you know your in an M1 Abrams. After you get captured the character you are dies. Then you're in an F18 dropping bombs on an airfield. Granted the story wasn't the best, but you didn't know where you'd end up next and you actually worried about the characters you were with.

I was fine with the story, it's a pretty good introduction to 40k.
What bugged me though, and it goes back to the whole 'change up' discussion is that there were things in it, where you thought they were *trying* that but... it just never happened.
For example, running around with the plasma cannon. A few seconds and a boss fight, then that was that.
Then there's the valkyrie sequence... All two and a half minutes of it. There was potential for awesomeness there, it actually felt a bit like a tutorial for it in many ways. Then it was over.
Conversely, they did it right with the jump pack levels. They were around often enough to have fun with them but not too much that you'd get bored.
If they had another few bits like that which padded the game out, it would have been significantly better.
And also, I'm a bit miffed you never got to properly take part in that big battle outside the Imperial Base they were talking about.
As I said earlier in the thread. The game was fine, it could have been awesome with more time and effort. A sequel, or even an 'expansion' (using the same engine but bigger/longer campaign) properly done would fix all my problems with the game.

So, after reading through this thread, I played Space Marine again for the first time since the last DLC release...and I totally forgot how much fun it was to shove a chainsword into the mouth of a Nob. Ahhhh, I love that game despite it flaws

I bought the game expecting a 6/10 game. What I got was more enjoyable, but mainly because I wasn't expecting much to begin with. The multiplayer was fun, the single player was campy but awesome, and Exterminatus was the best part. Running around with a lascannon and then getting two devestators and stun locking orks with the stomp was great fun.

I had great fun playing the single player, I've played it through twice. Unfortunately, the multiplayer was not to my taste (I hate having to manually mute every single mic so I don't have to listen to someone wheeze and burp down their mic at me for an entire game, and the lag was intolerable).
I thought it got the "feel" and atmosphere of 40K pretty perfectly. Far better than I thought it would. It was also viscerally fun to play, for me. I don't usually enjoy 3rd person games (I tend to prefer RPGs and RTS games) but I really enjoyed kicking the crap out of Chaos Marines and Nobs, as well as casually splattering cultists all over the scenery.
If I had a criticism it would be that the game could have been longer, and the final boss fight was lame.

This! I enjoyed the boss fight again Grimskull, and I was expecting something similar with Nemeroth....not just a bunch of QTE button mashing.
Another problem I had - I lost all my multiplayer unlocks when my old PS3 crapped out on me...and I really don't want to grind through multiplayer again. If the multiplayer was better, I wouldn't mind...but the amount of lag makes it unplayable. But, this is also a PSN flaw, not just a Space Marine problem

It was a great first offering. All the big game franchises had unpolished first installments; the fans gave them a chance and improvements were made for each sequel. Its bitchy little nitpickers that killed this game and any hope for sequels. The internet is a damn nursery.

I don't think nitpicking killed this game. I think coming out a month before Gears of War 3 sapped away the multiplayer community, and then having the exterminatus DLC come out so much later did a lot of damage too. The thing that keeps the sequel from being made is THQ circling the drain.

It was actually 2 weeks before Gears 3 came out.
Terrible release decision, they should have had Exterminatus ready for download RIGHT at release as well. A couple poor launch decisions can really hamstring a game, just look at what happens to MMOs sometimes.

Unfortunately, the way they have the playlists split up is mind-boggling. It doesn't intelligently match players with DLC to other players with DLC, you just have to be in that playlist. Problem is, not everyone buys DLC, so you are removing yourself from the main population of the game (which isn't much) to put yourself into those other playlists, and no one really wants to do that.
I've sat in the Dreadnought assault playlist looking for a game for like, 20+ minutes before. I never even got to play it It seems pretty awesome though.

No one played it on Annihilation mode even when it first came out, only with the Dreadnought, which sucked. It was fun with the Dread, but I just wanted to play on something other than the same 5 bloody maps. I tried a few weeks ago and no one was even playing the Dreadnought DLC like you say.

They split up the playerbase by putting a bunch of people in paid-for DLC games that other folks couldn't get into. I hate that companies keep putting out paid-for map packs and stuff that divides the playerbase.

Which was my point, the majority of people went crazy for the Dreadnought DLC, went out and bought it, but everyone seemed to forget about the awesome new maps that you could use without having a Dreadnought.
