Loved how you take up the "minis of 1985" criticism (and expand it into a book of 1955 vibe).

But I am still out on this due to intl. shipping. Sorry, but that's just a huge block there. A book for $55,- retail at (presumably) a UK discounter at some point for $50,- or less > a Kickstarter option of $57,- + import VAT (another 20% UK) and most likely another customs handling fee (another 5 quid or so).

Don't take it as a criticism, but that is a lot to burn through for even the nicest of books.

This is where a pdf could capture you some intl. backers (though I can fully understand your reasoning for not doing it).

The video interview is with Ernie Baker (the owner of Alien Dungeon and one of the designers as well). Ernie worked on the background and rules along with Rick, Alessio, and Andy. It was a true collaborative effort.

I am also in the video, though seeing my ugly mug isn't what anyone is excited about for sure :-)

Fair enough - my point was that it's not about "those ex-GW designers not wanting their rules in PDF format".

I'm also in the same boat as Zweischnied as far as costs go, especially as many UK discounters offer free international shipping (it's the VAT they don't need to pay on overseas orders).

We are in the process of lining up a UK Distributor for Alien Dungeon. We hope to make the official announcement soon. That will hopefully make it a bit more reasonable for everyone outside the US!

Those guys were American, and not the designers, who it appears wrote this ruleset as a work-for-hire gig.

Good point.

Either way, epublishing can bring in a good chunk of revenue from customers to whom it is impractical to ship a big hardcover book.

Balance in pick up games? Two people, each with their own goals for the game, design half a board game on their own without knowing the layout of the board and hope it all works out. Good luck with that. The faster you can find like minded individuals who want the same things from the game as you, the better.
