Its like a bad ankle monitor for being on probation. I'd actually contribute to the defnese fund for someone suing, including giving to the ACLU (which I am no fan of).

Really, If we are tracking the students, Why not just train the police to go hijack students from their home and take them to school. Its the same violation of rights.

Huh. The voices I hear suggest that this is to get the next generation accustomed to this kind of stuff. If the program spreads like wildfire in the next 2-3 years, then it will be that much more plausible.

When I put my tinfoil hat back on though, this goes from being a conspiracy to just outright stupid. If I was one of those kids I'd just microwave mine:

"You weren't in class today"

"Yes I was, I even talked to the teacher afterwards. She can confirm this."

"Your badge is broken."

"So?"

Two weeks after they get me a new one, do it again.

If this was for lets say criminals or deliqunintes (however you spell it too lazy to search it >.> don't judge!) it would be fine..

But on regular high school students? Aww Hell naw. Stahp the madness!!?!?!

I wouldn't judge were it not for the fact that, in the time you took typing the justification, you could have found the correct spelling

Giving you a new freq takes ten mins and not two weeks.

If it weren't highly illegal, we could just set up equipment to capture students' cell phone information, and track them without even knowing it... of course, you'll only get all of them because they will have the phones with them (even against school rules that Im sure still exist)

Thats kindda what I was thinking. Why not leave it in you locker or in someones backpack while your out playing hooky. I dunno, Im a bit torn on this. Part of me thinks "Ok cool this might work" The other part thinks "What waste of fething money" If the kids dont want to be there, they wont be there. Keycard or not. Thought I laughed at the girl that refuses due to religious reasons. It always comes down to that

Probably, at least if they aren't idiots. There is a case to be made for tracking student activities within the school itself; especially given that its only a minor step up from normal practice involving "unauthorized" persons to enter through a sort of office.

But beyond school grounds? That's huntin' season for some of that sweet school budget settlement cash. Nice way to put your kid in a better school, pad out his college fund, or buy a new boat.

I'm not sure, if a parent were to mount a legal challenge I think they might. They're certainly no fan of RFID, even if the people that talk about it on their website are more than a little flying rodent gak.

If I was a parent I freaking wait till they literally confirm my kid not at scool and is at the mall or something. Get the individual name that called, time, location of the individual tracking....as much info as I can get to nail their arse to the wall.
