The diagram on the page shows a 45 deg total arc, not 45 deg in each direction. They only show the horizontal arc, but it doesn't take a great leap of logic to figure out that since both use the same wording, both have the same arc.

The german BRB clarifies saying the gun can rotate 22.5 degrees to the left or right and the same for up or down. So it's from the midpoint and the enveloping surface is a square pyramid.

shucks gosh darn! I'm not german and don't play many of my games of 40K in germany. Unfortunately NONE of the locals here where I'm from allowed us to use our demon princes as FMC just because the GERMAN FAQ explicitly permitted it.

So it's different in the english rule book? If so, no need to get agitated, my post has no bearing on you and that's why i specified the language of my rule book.

fold a piece of paper twice and you get a perfect template for the angles

So, if we assume that the first point of death ray should be located on the table surface and the gun barrel is at approx. at 3.3" height, then we have a very small area to put this point (area 1 on the pic). And moreover, wounds can be allocated only on the models within areas (1+2). Do I understand correctly?

Nawh. You were being a rule lawyer, yeah. But I'd do the same in a competitive game. You made the right call, because some would even say that the beam from that flyer is a 360 , when it isn't. 45 degrees is the right amount of sight it can shoot, and you did well to prevent yourself from cheese.

High Five.
