Great write up. This was an event I wanted to attend, but couldn't swing it travelling from North Carolina. Don't feel bad about losing to Devin. He's a super cagey Eldar player and it's amazing how he pulls victory from the jaws of defeat a lot with Eldar.

Was there a best army award? I'm curious to see if Gabe won as I believe he brought his Blood Angels to this event.

I watched Devin play before, I know how tricksy the Eldar can be! And Gabe won best model and best Vehicle, but I believe Best Army went to a preheresy World Eaters army with allied Guard.

A pure eldar army won it... that's interesting... Haven't seen that in a while. Wonder what build it was.

Congrats on the 4th place finish and I lament with you. I hate battle point rankings. Doesnt help those people that have to take down tough opponent after tough opponent while someone else is clubbing baby seals. Can create a parody in the rankings.

The Eldar player was the OP round 5 opponent. It was actually Eldar/DE. The OP list is a bit off, but the pic of the Eldar/DE army is pretty clear what was in the army.

I'm in shock an Imperial Guard player would forfeit a Kill Point scenario so quickly, despite his early loses three Tervigons is incredibly difficult to pull off a Kill Point victory in my experience. Good game, but I think he should have stuck it despite the loses.

In your game against the DEldar, did he place his Warwalkers that terribly or did you move your Flyrants that aggressively? Those are amazing units to lose in turn 1, and I'm curious how that played out.

Did you find the squads of Ymgarls worth it?

On the Game 4, I wasn't going to spawn any gants. With a 7 point KP lead, I would have just killed all his vehicles and hid my Tervigons, just making sure I could grab objectives.

Game 5, I moved that agressively with the Flyrants, plus siezed the iniative. It was a risky move, and as much as I killed, I took it right back when his Wraithguard managed to kill the FLyrant all on their own.

For the Ymgarls overall, I am unsure. They did great in quite a few of my games. Against the Eldar/DEldar, not so much, but that was mainly due to dice. They also did very little in game 6, but that was due to the type of army I faced. Overall: They are very helpful against Gunline shooty forces, like Guard/Marines, but Hive Guard are better against mobile shooty forces. If I had to rewrite my list, I'd have dropped one of the two units, and a few gants, for 3 Hive Guard. Ymgarls are also typically better against assault armies.

Hey man this is Devin tried to find you online to say great game and all.
This will be my first Dakka post woot. But for who asked Joseph Sledge took best army theme, Gabe took best Painted small and Large Mini, Hector took best sportsmen, and I got lucky so all in all Jacksonville represented really well.

And O I placed my war walkers aggressively so that I might take 20 guided potshots at the Hive tyrant. But the hive mind decided it wanted to go first lol and whooped my war walkers and Jetbikes something fierce lol. My strategy for the game was to be aggresive and use my Jetbikes to grab the objective then Jetbike assault move back towards my Wraithguard which I felt confident could hold their own against all the spawned gaunts. I wanted to take down the Flyrants early so I would be free to move around the board with my mobile units. That's if I had gone first lol. Instead Nids Steal the initiative and haymaker to my face haha and I do a haymaker right back so we both look like a couple of hockey players with missing teeth and ready to duke it out again. Was my favorite game and my favorite opponent of the event. Then we got free beer Ahhhhhhhhh Yaaaa.

Too bad it had to go down like that mrblacksunshine. Oh well I think every judge must make at least one unfavorable call.

Congratulations on winning Game Six, especially given the skillful opponent and truly awful and unfavorable scenario! Tying the secondary objective to an element that doesn't even feature in all armies is just plain crazy.

Gabe sent me a copy of your list. I've put my own spin on it, but after playing a few games with the Wraithstar, I like it alot. Wanted to make this event, but with a move coming up in June, I just couldn't swing the time off or expenses for this one. Congrats on winning and playing what I see as an unconvential list; it definitely has me looking outside the box on army design and how each unit interacts.
