An 80 point AV12 vehicle with a multimelta and a heavy bolter? Just how, then would you justify 155 points for an AV14 vehicle with a long-range multimelta and a heavy bolter.
Surely you're not going to recommend 100 point russes.
Also, if chimeras got lascannons, then there wouldn't be much point to taking sentinels. Just how cheap would THOSE have to be in order to be worth taking? Free?

I don't justify it because I don't think Vanquishers are worth their price either. 155pts for a BS3 non AP1 long range meltagun really just isn't worth that many points. There's a reason you almost never see them on tables. I haven't seen one outside of the Armored Battlegroup list I run since...2010?
Now, sporting BS4 with a coaxial Heavy Stubber to help reroll hits on the main gun and a hull lascannon...then they suddenly become useful tankhunters. But not really before that, and even then they're not exactly the most cost effective things in the world, a Hammerhead will be good match against it at less than two thirds the cost.
Surely you're not going to recommend 100 point russes.
No...even if that's what they're worth I'd say they'd need to be *made* worth more points because that's not their role.
Also, if chimeras got lascannons, then there wouldn't be much point to taking sentinels.
There isn't one presently, especially now that they've been stuck with 2 HP's. Sentinels have never been cost effective firepower. There's a reason you almost never see them. I honestly cannot recall the last time I've seen Sentinels on a table, and I can't recall ever seeing them in an army of a seasoned player in a competitive game.
Just how cheap would THOSE have to be in order to be worth taking? Free?
Not free no. Cheaper and/or more capable than they are now. BS3 lascannons aren't much to right home about. One will notice in all of 40k, Lascannons aren't a particularly popular option in general. Lascannons are usually only taken as sponsons on Predators which are usually seen as middling options, the Lascannon equipped Land Raider is probably the least popular incarnation of that mighty beast. The platforms they see most action on are Twin Linked, Dreadnoughts, Vendettas and Razorbacks (or that come with TL plasma guns instead of the 2nd Lascannon barrel). One normally doesn't see lots of Lascannon turret Predators, Lascannon Sentinels, Lascannon Heavy Weapon Squads, Lascannon Devastators/Havocs, etc.

Make sentinels have a maximum squad size of five, which would make the unit a lot more resilient. Lower the costs by 5-10 points. This would help to sell models and create awesome walker squadrons.

lascannon on an AV 12 hull is not the same as lascannon on an AV 11 hull. A mech guard army at say, 1500 points, will have about 5 chimeras - allowing them all to take lascannons is going to make a big, big difference to the combined damage output of that army, and remove the only real weakness of mech guard - long range anti-vehicle firepower.
Given how easily AV12 is neutralized in 6E, and that likely it'd be a BS3 Lascannon and not a Twin Linked BS4 Lascannon (*huge* world of difference), unless made absolutely dirt-cheap, it'd be difficult to justify in most instances. I really don't think it'd be that bad.
Av12 is not easily neutralized in 6th, who told you that? I think you've been playing with the wrong rules matey.

Please not this. Without wanting to start another failcast rant: I`d rather see GW offer FW product through their own website so it becomes available to people who don`t own a Visa or Mastercard. That untill they take lessons from companies like Alpine miniatures and Live Resin. Beyond that, more specific doctrines would be nice. With millions of regiments, being able to fine-tailor your list sounds like the right idea for the whole "forging your own narrative"-thing (if that still even exists somewhere).

Whereas to an englishman the taking of a sledgehammer to crack a nut is a wrong decision and a sign of mental immaturity, to a russian the opposite is the case. In russian eyes the cracking of nuts is clearly what sledgehammers are for.

Well the Death Korps will probably stay unique to Forgeworld because a) the models are gorgeous & b) they must be making lots of money out of them to keep on doing them & potentially expand the range (new IA has more DKoK loveliness in it - had a brief look at it at Salute! in London last weekend).
But yes! The other regiments in plastics would be great. I'm sick to the back teeth of Cadian's & Catachan's.

My play experience and army composition at major tournaments under 6th edition? One will notice relatively few medium vehicle heavy lists in competitive events these days. Sure, they can't be glanced once to keep them from shooting anymore, but they're so much easier to kill (and still able to be stunned/shaken on pens just fine which are typically at least as likely if not more likely than glances) thanks to Hull Points.

There's a reason people don't complain about endless waves of chimeras from IG players anymore...
As for everyone who asks for plastic DKoK, can't happen for 2 reasons
1. Way too many undercuts. They just wouldn't be possible without being split up in some crazy ways.
2. Forgeworld makes them. Why try and undercut your own business? Now the Praetorians, which have been out of production for a long time, those I could see coming back. But for them, why not just buy Victoria Lamb or Historicals instead? Vic's got the quality nailed down and historicals are far cheaper.

Vaktathi wrote:Here's a list of general "fixes" I'd like to see
I'd reduce both the Vendetta and Valkyrie to 11/11/10 AV(what it was under FW before they were up-armored to be useable as skimmers), make the Valkyrie a dedicated transport option, make Vendetta a Heavy Support unit and 150pts.
Add TL Heavy Stubber as a heavy weapon option for 5pts, reduce heavy Bolter to 5pts, Missile Launcher to 10pts, Lascannon to 15pts.
Make Grenade Launcher Assault 2 or at least Rapid Fire.
make Carapace armor cheaper, no way its worth 20pts on a command squad or 30pts on a Veteran squad, a BS4 vet with an S3 lasgun is not worth 1pt more than a BS3 Firewarrior with an S5 Pulse Rifle.
Sentinels to 25pts tops, 5pts cheaper on pretty much all weapons, Armored Sentinels should really be 3HP and 40pts
Stormtroopers. WS4 BS4 S3 T3 I3 A1 Ld8 (9 on sergeant) 4+ sv, Furious Charge, Laspistol/ CCW, Hotshot lasguns to S3 AP5 Assault 3 18" Pinning. Infiltrate and Deep Strike. 70pts for 5, 12ppm for each additional model up to 10, may take up to two special weapons. That'd make them a legitimate actual "stormtrooper" assault unit, as opposed to awkward and ineffective MEQ hunters, effective but not stepping on any toes.
Drop Hellhound & Variant costs by 40pts, Fast AV12 non-skimmer is not worth the price of a battle tank.
Leman Russ General: AV11 rear on all models, reduce sponson costs by 10pts each, fix Heavy/Lumbering to allow ordnance to still allow secondary weapons to fire effectively
LR Punisher: Drop 20pts from cost
LR Eradicator: make same as base LRBT cost
LR Vanquisher: make main gun AP1 and add coaxial heavy stubber to allow rerolls if stubber hits.
Add LR Annihilator at 130pts
Artillery: Drop cost on Basilisk by 15pts, reduce minimum range to 24". Reduce Medusa cost by 10pts.
Vox Networks: remove re-roll, allow to use anywhere on the board instead of within a few inches of an officer.
Heavy Weapon Squads: give Eternal Warrior (it's two dudes on one gun, not one tougher-than average dude, and without EW they're just too easy to remove, especially with Ld7) Reduce base cost to 50pts with a Mortar/ TL Heavy Stubber/Heavy Bolter, 5ppm upgrade to Autocannons or ML's, 15ppm upgrade to Lascannons.
RR's need new models, make 8ppm base, give option for Carapace at 2ppm.
Give Hydra the option to use Skyfire or not. (I really *really* hate that they made skyfire snapshots only at ground targets and tied the fix in for that to an ability to fire at oncoming reserves, stupid game design, and half the Hydras fluff is being turned to use against infantry)
Relegate Deathstrike to Apocalypse, it has no place in a typical 40k battle as anything but an objective.
give Ogryns Ld9 and Stubborn
Make Techpriest repairs more reliable, buy as upgrade to vehicle/vehicle squadron.
Make Priest a Platoon upgrade.
As for new stuff, a "greatcoat" plastic line, some of the old "doctrines" return as unit options, I'd like to see the Chimera variants (chimerax, chimerro), include FW field artillery (Thudd gun, Heavy Mortar), include Rapier platform, etc.
I like all these to be honest.
Would like the rest of the models to come in plastic.
If the russes dont get fixed with Lumbering behimoth I would say a points decrease for ordnance variants. Reasoning is av 14 that moves no faster than 6in and has a large blast thats not very effective. The topics have said that s8 ap 3 is only good against marines in the open and s10 ap2? is too short of a range as the tank will risk being in melta range and possibly assault range after 1 turn of shooting.
Im not sure if any one else has thought about it but if your CCS has a vox why not allow tanks to take vox upgrades so then they can recieve orders as well???
I also would like to see pask made more playable. For his points he doesnt seem all that effective.
I would also like to see most of the IG characters fixed up, I dont see any reason for Creed or Kell to be 80+ points a piece if you still have to pay for the rest of the CCS.
Vendettas need price hike.
Doctrine system would be nice to have.

Other than Caiaphas Cain, I would love to see two things come back. There used to be minis for IG that looked like "Bobbies" and there was the Catachan Codex. No tanks, booby traps, everyone was a Vet, but cost more, ect. I had fun with it, I had to have less models, I scared anyone that seen woods on the board (since they were like Kroot at the time and could shoot out of woods, but not shot at, while in the woods)
But then I remember a chapter approved where there was IG that had "Choppas and Sluggas" and hunted Orks so much they even got the "Ahhhhgh" in place of the "Waaagh" and where a little tougher.

My biggest wish is for the weird 40k units like Ogryn, Ratlings and techpriests to be less bad.
Ogryns need some kind of LD boost, we don't have any ICs that are really tough enough to lead them (except maybe Yarrick but he costs way too much) and maybe FNP.
Ratlings are victims of the terrible sniper rules but at maybe 8 points per model they might be ok. I'd love if the Ratling SC from 2nd ed made a comeback.
Techpriests cost way too much and their gun servitors are criminally overpriced. A shooty variant with some wacky baby conversion beamer or a mole mortar might be cool.
Priests also cost too much.
As for the lesser used ICs, I'd like to see Bastonne move to stormtrooper squads and let his FRFSRF apply to their hotshot lasguns. There also needs to be some point adjustments there.
I also wouldn't mind seeing lasguns becoming salvo 2/4 weapons as a way to make regular infantry squads a bit more than just special/heavy weapon delivery mechanisms.
Nork needs to cost way less, as do medics. I't would be nice if a Guard command squad could threaten things like Tactical squads in CC rather than just get chewed up immediately. I'd like the CCS to be more than a plasma/melta delivery system.
And apparently I'm the only person who doesn't want Doctrines back. I never saw anything but close order drilling, sharpshooting drop troopers and I doubt a new system like that would produce any more varied a metagame.
