Ghaz is one (!) exceptional Ork Warboss that would fit that description. He's also the goddamn prophet of the WAAAAGH!.

Plus you know it applies to any sufficiently powerful Ork in mega armour.

Just because there is one of these, doesn't mean an entire Ork-sub-species of them isn't full-slow.

There happened to be a world of Orks where, and I quote, "some" reached that size. Not all.

That's why the Forge World stuff is so outrageously "11-year-old-fanboy-stuff". It's the most childish notion of "Ghaz-is-cool, let's make 1000000 more of him".

Read above.

It's like saying "I like Mephiston, so I'll just make an entire Chapter full of only Mephistons". But I guess I am just giving the hacks at Forge World ideas now

If I recall correctly, there is already a book like that.

I believe it was called the Grey Knights codex.

VD- you seem to take fluff threads about the capabilities of Primarchs very seriously, is what I'm talking about.

Maybe 40K has always had lame fluff and I've only realised it lately. I dunno. I'm happier with primarchs being perhaps S5 T5, but the games writers prefer them to be +1'd.

Something "trump card" about the idea of the Emp being completely unassailable by a normal Ork boy, a monstrous alien that is already superhumanly strong and tough. A side effect of the game stats influencing fluff, I suppose.

Not really, it just happens to be one of my favorite topics.

I don't take nearly as much seriously here as people think I do. DakkaDakka is not a serious place, 40k is not a serious universe.

I dunno, personally I find the notion of a beast that can be killed by a guardsman driving the butt of his lasgun into its head running up to the Emperor and strangling him ridiculous.

Ork Boys are slaughtered en masse by normal Marines, much less the Emperor and his Primarchs.

I'm going to add to this by mentioning part of ADB's Betrayer. I don't have an exact quote but it goes like this

Spoiler:

Lorgar, Primarch of the Word Bearers, took a direct hit from a Warhound Titan's Blasma Blastgun, survived. As the Scout Titan lined up to crush him underfoot, Primarch Angron of the World Eaters caught the foot and holds it up. His spine cracks and his muscles begin to tear and still he holds it up. At one point he actually pushes it back a bit!

Later on, Lorgar (albeit with help from Warp Magic) is completely healed.

And although rules =/= fluff, the weapon profile can be used as a benchmark. Last I checked a Plasma Blastgun has Str 8 AP2, 2 Large Blasts OR Str 10, AP2 Large Blast.

To be fair, invulnerable saves are like that, as is plot armour

I've had grots survive plasma blastgun hits.

Grots =/= primarchs

Frankly 40K fluff is so gonzoed in any case, it's almost not worth arguing the fluff, no matter how egregious the fluff abomination is

Curses I cannot resist exalting! I was going to go in with an elaborate response, but Evileyes pretty much nailed it for me.

Ok, let's take a moment (and a breath). We are discussing the mutability of 40k fluff--which Black Library/Games Workshop has proven to certainly be adjustable over time. Several posts within this thread are skirting the line between spirited debate and inflammatory baiting.

Remember, we're all here to have fun and ultimately, discuss toy/model soldiers. Let's be respectful of that fact (and other posters) please.

Thanks!

Why wouldn't Draigo be able to give Mortarion a beating?

We had a simple Ork nearly killing the Emperor in his prime. It took the combined might of both Horus and the Emperor to drive off (not kill, drive off) said Ork.

That IS the main appeal of 40K. Even Gods are "mortal". Even Gods can get pwned. Nobody is safe. It's why I love 40K.

Sure. Simple Ork. Not, you know, the most powerful Warboss ever recorded leading the largest Waaagh! ever that kicked the ass of several primarchs before the emperor had to step in and then HE nearly got killed. Why in the hell WOULD Draigo be able to give Mortarion a beating?

You may be exaggerating about the Ork Warlord's prowess a bit, lol.
