I know it doesn't work for the space battles by if they create a ground battles game I need a snowspeeder! I got one for Christmas when I was 2 (31 now) and I still have it.

Personally, I think that this is a very bad idea.
GW got to do this with their Lord of the Rings license. Ultimately, they created Dwellers as well as some messed up Isengard Units (feral Uruks) and their own version of Harad.
I agree about harad and dwellers would have been great if they weren't Durins bane on a diet. But feral uruks? What's the proble-Because beserkers do the same role and don't have armour nailed to him?Now I get it.

As much as the movie trilogy purists want it to be limited to just the movies and known ships, they will be forced to go into the expanded universe. Otherwise everyone will buy the models they want and the game will stagnate.
No point in not having more and different factions as well since the two factions will end up fighting each other anyway. Its a good idea as the numbers of ships advance, that the different factions will inhibit certain nasty combos that new and older ships might cause.

If you dont short hand your list, Im not reading it.
Example: Assault Intercessors- x5 -Thunder hammer and plasma pistol on sgt.
or Assault Terminators 3xTH/SS, 2xLCs
For the love of God, GW, get rid of reroll mechanics. ALL OF THEM! |

What about the Ssi-Ruuk, or the Yuuhzon-Vong, also, just realized that if they do stay loyal to EU, they have to write off Chewie cause he's dead... as is Crix Madine, the clone emperor, most of Rogue Squadron... It would also be nice to see some Shadows of the Empire ships like the Outrider or the Virago.

The pen is mightier then the sword, but you must keep a sword handy for when the pen runs out of ink.

Dear god no, not the random EU aliens with stupid looking ships nobody will recognize. At least the "early" EU stuff was recognizably Star Wars, weird bioships wouldn't fit at all with the existing style.
And having pilots that are dead isn't a problem. Chewie is obviously in the game, Vader is there despite dying before the movies even finished, and we even got the A-wing pilot whose few seconds of screen time consisted of a kamikaze run on a star destroyer.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices. |

Not just a star destroyer...
It was da mutha-zoggin' Executor!
And though I'm kind of neutral about the Vong, if Disney ignores the rest of EU then zog them. With unbelievably extreme prejudice.

I quite like the original stuff GW made up to sell LotR product. I have no problem with FFG doing the same for SW. There's no reason why Del Ray novels or Dark Horse comics get to add to the EU but games don't. I feel confident that FFG can come up with something better and more Star Warsy than the Yuzhan Vong. Then again, I think a four year old could do that.

Well unless they are advancing the time frame 25 years, I dont think we have to worry about the Vong and Chewie dieing anytime soon. We still have the Thrawn trilogy and Dark Empire to get through.

The Thrawn trilogy and Dark Empire are both post-GCW. Yes, I get that they both cover the cleanup/fallout era but the point stands. So far, the only EU stuff has been from the GCW period as far as I know. That means stuff from Shadows of the Empire is more likely if we're talking about novels/comics. That's a good thing, IMO, because significant dollars were spent conceiving of the visual design on that score for the vidya game and toy line. The same cannot be said for the Thrawn trilogy.

Which is a shame since the Thrawn trilogy was easily as good as the first trilogy and Shadows of the Empire was such a let down. But in the Thrawn Trilogy, much of the technology is the same(although concevably you can say the same about Galactic forces during the Vong invasion)

There is so much cool fodder for starships from the Civil War-era EU or just afterwards. From X-wing vs. Tie Fighter, to Shadows of the Empire, even to the comics (Dark Empire, for example). Throw the Virago in there, and Z-95's, and Assault Gunboats, the Outrider......I think there is still a good number of ships that can be added without ever delving into the prequels or Vong-era stuff.
