I've played tk at every competitive event this year, won 2 small events. either top or 2nd TK player at each. Balance is the key.
Movement phase you have to out deploy your opponent. I out deploy skaven at 2400. add 2 units of 10 archers with muso (SB if you have scenarios where capping table quarters is necessary) This is the biggest factor in winning games is winning deployment. a pair of tomb scorpions gives a lot of deployment flexibility as well.
I don't take snakes stalkers or chariots at 2400 they get out of buff range too easily. double sphinx, casket, hierotitan, double catapult. You have to figure you're not getting into combat with anything monstery. between magic, and skullapults they die. I take arkhan when I can and if not a lvl 2 death. having 2 ld 9 or 10 spirit leeches(don't forget that hierotitan's bound spells) I'm confident no enemy characters make it to combat.
Once to combat, like the concept of the sphinxes make them hard to wound. Soul blight, or dessication are the money spells. I run a horde of skellies that are good ws. and when s3 hits them they have a 5+/6++ and tend to hang around a lot.
Empire is a horrible match up tho. they build the same style in our area. Empire can get that synergy, just right and it's tough. 3 of my 4 l tourney losses this year was vs empire.
