Well... yeah, but it's not usually treated as a holy relic like the radical Islamic folks do...

Hence, Ouze's "strictly" statement.

God didn't write the bible. It is acknowledged that humans wrote the bible, and that they can err, and that while the text is considered holy(divinely inspired), it is not per se the literal word of God.

Muslims essentially believe that God had the Quran up in his big cloud palace, and then he gave it to Muhammad.

No it's not. At best, you have the Creationists believing that everything contained within it is the literal truth. Everyone else can see that it is written by people, and as such it is subject to human error; therefore, the meaning is more important than the words you can see on the page.

Not correct. Humans wrote the Bible while God was dictating to them.

But that still doesn't make a Bible(object) a holy relic. You can just get another one.

So really, we hold the Bible to be as important as Muslims do, but we don't transfer that importance to the object itself.

Its like you having some important files on a flash drive. The Flash Drive itself isn't what is important, its the stuff on the Flash Drive. Muslims hold the Flash Drive being as sacred as the text contained within.

Let me put it this way. If there is a stack of books including the Quran, the Quran must be on top.

It's the literal infallible word of God. The original copy is in his cloud palace.

Besides, why would this even upset Muslims (if that was the goal).... if you are religious you obviously believe in god having some kind of final judgement. I'm pretty sure he would b**ch slap the guy who burned the books while everyone else chilled in paradise.

"Goes back to watching Ancient Aliens"

It upsets muslims because the Koran is the word of God and may only be disposed of in a suitable religious manner.

Well Christians believe the Bible is the word of God, but Christians don't get up in arms if a Bible gets burned. You've only burned a physical object, the word itself is imperishable.

Muslims have different beliefs to Christians.

Both belief X book is the holy word of God. but only one of them gets outraged as a rule when their book gets burned.

A similar belief attached to a equivalent object, but way different reactions to the same action regarding that object.

If he bought those books wouldn't Islam be receiving some of that money so isn't he helping Islam somewhat? How is the money distributed when purchasing the Qur'an or any religious text?

Yup.

A similar thing happened in Europe when the Catholic Church was buying up bibles getting printed by a publisher and burning them, they couldn't legally stop him from printing the bibles. they ended up funding him so he could make more bibles.

That will be The Bible that was cobbled together over the years then? We'll have some of the Torah in it, plus the other bits that we deem acceptable... but not the stuff that could loosen our grip on society. At least the Jews & Muslims have an original book, unlike the Christians.

Live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart. Trouble no one about his religion. Respect others in their views and demand that they respect yours. Love your life, perfect your life. Beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and of service to your people. When your time comes to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song, and die like a hero going home.

For what? He's right. The Bible was a hand picked book, thats been translated several different times with many things changed throughout the years. The Torah and Quran are still the exact same books they were when they were originally copied down to paper.
