Yes it is.

You can easily convert any of the bodies into characters, and all of the stuff contained within it is useful.

Just got my book, slowly working my way through it all now. Don't really understand much of it to be fair though, newly converted over from 40k. Could someone give a standard(ish) list at 2k, and the thinking behind the choices, I'm not looking to build a cookie cutter or anything like that, its just nice to have a small amount of direction to aim my purchases towards, and as I pick up the game a bit better, I can build my own flavour in to it.

What do people generally use to proxy as Sabretusks?

I'm thinking Fenrisian Wolves, does anyone know how well they scale, with the Sabre models?

AH yes! indeed a better idea! I'm merely using my hounds as i possess about 20 of the models and I only use at most 15.

I'm thinking of making a snow base theme, not original I know. would anyone suggest the best method to create snow please. I have head Bi-soda? I have also seen specialist snow flock available. but was wondering if it is worth the money?

The GW texture paints are good as well, it all depends what you want out of it.

How do Ogres tend to fair against WoC? Is it an up hill struggle, fairly even, or even one sided for the Ogres?

Fairly even. Both are solid books.

Ogres can have trouble with the "unkillable" nurgle daemon prince. And ogres naturally don't like any army that can take Death or Shadow.

I used Fenrisian Wolves for my Chaos Warhounds. They fit great on the cavalry-sized base. I'm also doing a snow-base theme for my army. There's two ways you can go with this. The first is the cheap way, with white glue and baking soda. The second is the expensive way, with 'the real stuff' that's made for this purpose. The difference is noticeable, and the good stuff does look good, but for rank and file it's a lot more economical to go with baking soda + glue, and it looks just fine for RNF standard. You could pick up some of the good stuff for characters if you want to go all out for them, but glue + baking soda will do you just fine for the most part. Some pics in my blog below if you're curious for how it looks.

If you want to try it to see for yourself, get some white glue and some baking soda. There's no set formula that I use or am aware of, but basically the more baking soda you add, the 'frostier' the look. If you only add a little baking soda, you can get a nice 'slushy' look, and it'll spread more fluidly. Just depends on which way you want to go. Pour some glue, mix in some baking soda (about 1:2 baking soda to glue eyeballed will give you a good start), then stick it on some cardboard somewhere. Let it dry and see how it looks. If you want frostier, add more baking soda. If you want slushier, add less. Super easy once you try it a few times. I just eyeball it now and use a wooden popsicle stick for application.

Also, for those curious about the Fenrisian Wolves size, here's a picture of them before painting, click here. Still have to get the painted pics up at some point.

I Think Ironguts When run properly smash most WOC's core unless you have Mark of Nurgle. It is all about attack output and wound received to combat potential.

That's fine then, my buddy who has got me in to the game is going for a Khorne army, so shouldn't have much to fear from Nurgles rot.
