Or in other words, walking down the side of the field in a way that appears to all as if they're out, then when they get to the other side they light the other team up from the back.
So people do this, and you know what happens? People just start shooting everything that moves. Get out, start walking off the field, and people are still going to shoot you, regardless of what you say or do, because hey, you could just be pulling that crap like someone did before. So as a result people complain about people overshooting and bonus balling.
Cheap tactics like that, and what happened in that football game, should be shunned and punished.
The place I used to go to in New Orleans would kick you out if you got caught doing that.
It was also pretty hard to do, since the indoor arena was sort of a maze designed to replicate urban street-to-street fighting.

If someone is walking around in the open with their barrel plug in, don't shoot them. If they are walking around with their barrel plug out, shoot them. It's not hard. If someone puts their barrel plug in, then pulls it out and starts shooting that is cheating and should be punished.

Because this always is the case with walk ons and rec ball play.

What he said. I've yet to play in a place that mandated barrel plugs(mostly because the loaners don't have them).

.... so then listen to the other half of what I said, and shoot anyone who is walking around without a barrel plug in. That's the price you pay for being unwilling to put the tiny amount of effort in to get a two dollar piece of plastic.

You made a blanket statement that football players were cheaters and got called out on it. Let it go.

...so then now you can read the other half of what I said earlier, where people start complaining about bonus balling and overshooting, which are very real problems.
It's not about people not having plugs and socks. Everyone pretty much always has these, as any field worth a damn will enforce that you have them on your marker at all times until right before a game.
When people are out, they generally throw an arm up and walk off the field. Some hold their arm up, some run, most will walk with arms down. Instead of just lighting everything that moves up (which btw have fun explaining why you lit up a ref because you just happened to be jumpy that day), why not just attack the behavior that leads to bad decision making in the first place?
Walking along the sidelines in a passive manner pretty much conveys your out. By make it appear to people that you're out, you're willfully deceiving them. You are not being clever, you're being a d-bag. Why not just walk down the middle of the field? Oh right because you'll get lit up to no end. You're walking the sides to appear to be out.
That's BS behavior and I'd rank it next to taking off your mask during a game or having a barrel sock off while there isn't a game in progress. Should be punished and shunned, no excuses.
