I actually don;t mind the old versions of Plaguebearers, myself. And obviously the new Flayed Ones are idiotic.

The old cardboard ork dreadnaught from 2nd was way cooler than the current ones! It was so imposing, brilliant for line of sight purposes and had a retro 2D feel to it that you struggle to find nowadays! To top it off - it had the rules printed on the back!!! Awsome for when my uniform marines managed to flank it, because then they could read exactly how to take it down!

Ha! you sir get an exalt

Could you imagine GW being ok with you using that now days.

For me its got to be the space crusade dreadnought compared to all non forge world dreadnoughts since.

It looked like ED 209 and thes just an instant win.

Purgatory... aka Ohio

As already stated, Fire Prism.

Also, Farseer! "Let's update the Eldar codex, release a new Farseer model, and then... have a cover art of the old model..."

Good job, GW.

Meh, to each their own. I think the old fire prism is comically stupid looking.

That said... i don't have many preferences to old models over new, but there is definitely one i can think of : pink horrors. The last edition metal ones were perfect - they looked like an amorphous gibbering mob of flesh and magic hurtling and chortling towards the enemy - it was quintessential Tzeentch.

The new ones just don't have the same effect. The Beaks, the poses look stiff and awkward. They're just bizarre looking.

Also agree with the people who have mentioned lightning claws. I like my lightning claws to look... well, claw like. Like Canis Wolfborn. THe new stubbier bladed ones are okay, but their inferior to me.

I prefer most of the old tyranid line that was out around 2nd ed... with exception of the carnifex, which was just doofy lookin'.

I have a fondness for the old IG plastic stormtroopers. The minis themselves were nothing to write home about, but they had a unique design that made them stand out. Current ones simply look like up-armored cadians to me.

Loved the old 2nd edition ones.

Seriously?

The carnifex? Yeah, definitely. If they had only made it plastic and more posable, I'd have been delighted.

Not mine, by the way.

So I respect your opinion, but the popular option is that it looks's a "monster" made out of slinkies who gives chilfren free hugs .

least far as ive seen, there isnt any new model that just looks dumb compared to the old (as far as 40k is concerned anyway). What i see a lot of is a new model that is significantly bigger for no reason.

2nd ed Land Raiders are like half the size as the current ones,

new ork trukks are fething huge for an AV10 vehicle (theyre not much smaller than a BW...wth?),

Wraiths are roughly an inch taller and hit the point where hiding behind most walls you see doesnt work anymore,

new stormboyz are tall as hell and very top heavy (even weighted, mine tip over so easy it isnt funny)

only one i can think of that makes sense is the new Broadsides, since it made no sense that such a huge gun platform was on a tiny crisis model lol.

An ork with an idea tends to end with a bang.

While scale creep over the editions is a real thing, the old LRs were not half the size. They were about the same width, a bit taller, and an inch or so shorter. A little slimmer in the middle, which makes them feel less massive.

Damn. Never seen those. They are cool looking.

I agree with you - a lot of the old OOP IG were great. Steel Legion. Mordians. Valhallans.

I liked those except for the bulging potatoe heads. That turned me off of them.
