Why did they change the look of the fire prism.

Big giant crystal at end of gun= awesome looking
smaller crystal with straw attached= not awesome looking.

Also the greater demons that came out around 3rd look way better than the new ones, head wise at least, except maybe nurgle.

warhammer 40k mmo. If I can drive an ork trukk into the back of a space marine dread and explode in a fireball of epic, I can die happy!

Just personally, I love the new Fire Prism. The original looks fat and short, and the newer one is smooth, sleek, looks like a tank, and is a bit more Eldar-y, if I do say so myself. That's just my personal opinion though.

I would have to say my biggest beef is the new Chaos Raptors/Warp Talons. I thought the old ones looked badass - sleek and deadly, like predators. The new ones are too angular and bulky, they definitely fit with the CSM battleforce, but I like the flavor the old ones have. I liked that they looked like their own model, instead of CSM's with wind turbines bolted to their backs.

That's my two cents.

I agree, i dont have a fire prism because of this lol. Im a huge fan of the old guard. The Cadians now are very rigid and barely look different in comparison to the old ones which looked very fluid and dynamic. When i see the OOP guard i see men running around the battle field ducking and firing etc. The catachans are ok mostly though. I do miss the old style Imperial guard even though you had limited posses.

First one that springs to mind is the Carnifex. Loved the old 2nd edition ones. When I got back into the hobby last year I was expecting an updated plastic kit that looked much the same, but with more options for poses and things. I was left very disappointed.

Also, landspeeders. Glad I kept my old 2nd edition one. I've since bought 2 more. A pain to put together, but I think they look tons better.

I remember thinking, when they changed, that the new Bloodletters looked worse than before. They look a bit weedy compared to the older models, IMO.

Though they've kinda grown on me a bit since, and I don't really mind them, now. Probably because I've gotten used to them.

This

And

The old Vanguard Veterans. I am not sure if they are actually superior since I do not have any new Vanguards physically, but from what I have seen they can certainly compete. Same with Sternguard, though less so, I feel.

This is an easy one; Daemons! All 4 of the basic aligned Daemon core looked better in the old metal versions, particularly the Daemonettes. Same can be said for the Seekers.

Assault terminators. The old thunder hammers and lightning claws looks much better than the new ones. I hate the new knuckle duster lightning claws.

I agree with this. I like the newer models well enough for their weapons, but I think they lost a bit of personality.

This far and nobody said demonettes?

They re-did the striking scorpions to something much worse, but re-re did them to what we have now. I also prefer the old banshees. I agree with the old fire prism being better.

Grey Knights...TAGK and PAGK...my metal models have far more detail than the current setup.

Makes me sad whenever I have to add to my force.

I also like the old standing tyrant guard...though their heads were a bit odd I liked that they were tyrant-esque

I prefer the noise marines inbetween current and rock and roll. I like the ones that look like they're halfway to becoming daemons. Also prefer Diaznettes over the current ones, but man did my Diaznettes fetch good money. even though you put this in 40K (should be general for GW models as a whole), I'm tossing in Empire State troops and kroxigors. Daemons also stand in both categories.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

I think the older fire prism looked great. It would have been better to have the prism part in plastic though.

I too like the old pink/blue horrors with the faces and big hands.

I was a fan of the old renegades models. As with guard, less poses but more character.

I also liked the original daemonettes along with the new ones. The diaz ones were well done and nice models, just didn't match the fluff for them.

I too dislike the new knuckle duster claws preferring instead the actual CLAW lightning claws.

I like the new bloodletters, they are a direction back towards the original ones. Those muscle bound ones the came out with a while back are like the diaz nettes, nice models but simply did n ot match the original fluff.

I really liked the old models for the Wave Serpents over the new ones, but then again that is a FW versus GW comparison as well.

I also am a fan of the older Tanith Guardsmen over the new ones. I know, I know...probably doesn't count. :-P

Vote goes to the old CSM raptors - they looked sleek and unique. The new raptors are just spikey marines with jetpacks.

Old flayed ones looked way better than the new ones. Not being finecast helps a lot too.
Old spawn wasn't nearly as customizable but the base model was pretty great.

Seriously Flayed Ones. They went from being the coolest model in the cron dex imo to being one of the worst. There is more detail in the metal models then there are in the finecast ones, was it really that hard to change the old metal mold to finecast that they gave up and made those horrid abominations?

Really dont like the change as the metal older ones were far better.
War daemons should be chunky and carry the favored weapon of their god into war.
Not thin and wispy goat-things with a sword.

Bloodletters have always been kind of rawbone and carrying Hellblades. Look at their pictures in the ROC: Slaves to Darkness book.

I know, the new ones are in keeping with the original ones.
However, the previous ones just seem to stand out alot more to me as war daemons.

Does bug me though that the axe if khornes favored weapon.
Yet the only daemons he lets use it are princes and greater daemons.

This may not be totally on-topic with what the OP wants, but in my opinion, I love the old skool Ork Deff Dred. I love the new one too, but it is missing that sort of wacky DIY look that the old one had. Luckily I have two old skool ones and one of the new ones as the 'boss' of my dread mob haha.

I have to say that I really like the old school Juggernaut lord for Chaos Space Marines too. I bought one for my friend a while back as a gift, and he is one of the coolest models our gaming group has.

I also prefer the look of the old space marine scouts, particularly the sniper scouts, over the new ones. I hate the faces on the new kit, and tend to swap them out with IG or SM sgt heads etc whenever I can.
