Nope, it's a good, well though out, point. It just doesn't reflect the picture completely, which is ok, because that is how retail works anyway. Whenever GW makes a decision like this it is sales based, which is fine, they are a business.

Er, that was his point!

Like I said, not everyone is intentionally missing the point he has made.

The part where 'Mycetic Spores do nothing in the game after they drop' isn't exactly right, as I mentioned, mine take a very active part in every game (to the point where one of my regular buddies takes them out as quickly as he can). Apart from that, and I may be a special case with my list choices and play style, the point H.B.M.C made is spot on.

I would still play some special scenarios using Mycetic Spores, simply because they are an interesting part of the Tyranid invasion process. My regular buddies are good that way, very accommodating .

Sounds a little like Extinction... Love taking out those alien spore thingies with the drill... Could very well work in 40k games.

Crush your enemies, see them driven before you and to hear the lamentations of the women.

Didn't most people kit bash these things anyway? It's just a pod thing with some slime and tentacles. Just because GW won't make a kit for something that's a glorified piece if scenery surely shouldn't exclude it from the codex? Rather than being anything against third parties, it just shows how GW don't encourage any sort of creative modelling now, everything has to have a kit ready to go.

People kit bashed them because GW didn't release any models for 20 YEARS. At least my dimming memory seems to recall them being in 2nd edition.

I hope that the rule for the trygon's tunnel DS ability is going to be vastly improved.

If the spore didn't bring anything to the table after it hit the table, I can think of at least 5 new rules that could have been added to it to give it some purpose on the table. That isn't a good argument for removing a unit from an army.

A good argument is RoR and production space. It's a known fact that Plastic kits are a large investment, and the numbers from GW show how little profit there is per kit, once you take out cos and cor. So they likely crunched numbers on how long it would take to recover its costs given the relatively low price they could charge for it, and decided it isn't worth it, a big gribbly or two , at a higher price point, recover costs. Which is the second point - production space is limited on the stupidly priced casting machines, so something has to be worthwhile to claim space.

It's a shame that we don't have print codexes with unreleased models anymore, partly thanks to chapter house , but digital sorts that out. We can still have a midlife refresh of a dex, just in digital form.
