Excellent work, as usual The way you have that terrain spread out on the glass table... There's something there... Maybe if they were scifi buildings with connecting walkways... it could be a space station or something, the glass is obviously not there so it's a fall to the death
I also like your version of "started a new gang" as it includes 3 finished models, whereas most people will have assembled the entire thing and painted it black, but then it sits there for eons before a lick of proper paint. I think you're doing it right

Too true about the glass table, it is my new "invisible world" themed gaming table
Cheers Grim, but those models are not finished yet, they are just in the base coat and slap on a load of Aggrax Earthshade stage at the moment (basically the only way that I paint, and that has to change...probably ). Still highlighting and details to come. I have also tried a desert style base rather than my black/grey to white drybrush that is probably on my last 1000 odd miniatures. I just need to source some desert style foliage/grass for them for the full Wild West effect.
I have also decided to finish all of my Deadzone Plague models this week, it amounts to 12 models so not a lot of work. They are:
2 Stage 1A's
Plague Mortar Team (3 models)
2 Plague Hounds
1 HMG
1 Plague Swarm
2 Plague troopers
1 Plague Grenade Launcher.
Once they are done that will take me under 50 models in my possession that are not painted, I never thought that i would get to that stage.

Sweet, looking forward to an interpretation of the plague swarm, haven't seen too many painted. And the mortar team has long coats so that should be fun
Hmm... I must have checked those guys on a mobile device, they still look pretty darn solid

Well you sure are cranking away at them! I was actually doing really well with cutting into my To Do pile up until I ordered all those Heavy Gear models.
I really like the Death model. You did a nice job with the wood on the body of it. And the Banditos look cool too! The one guy with the blade-revolvers is pretty wild.

I nice little flurry of painting activity for me in the last few days.
First some Plague progress:
Plague mortar team:
Plague Hounds (2 previously done and 2 new)
Plague Swarm. Eurgh, not a fan of this model, there is just too much going on and too much muddies detail, the results are shown with a very sloppy and basic paintjob:
WIP on 4 Plague, they should be done soon:
So just these 4 to go and 2 Stage 1A's and my Plague are done, hooray!
I made a purchase on thursday of a Malifaux "No Shelter Here" Neverborn crew. They did not really add to the paint pile though as they are done already.
Master: Pandora (the photo makes the face look awful, in real life it looks fine, no idea why). She was undercoated black but her dress was painted white. This was then given a black wash, then a green wash and then it was done. I learned this technique from the Dakka log of Forlorn, go and check it out.
Candy:
Baby Kade:
Poltergeist. This model, and the Sorrows were an entirely white undercoat, black wash and green wash job. I love the effect.
Sorrows:
Lastly not part of the boxed set, but fitting in with the crew perfectly is Teddy:
Group shot:
And a group shot of all my Malifaux models:
But...but..but..what are they pictured on?
My new 36" by 36" malifaux mat from the people at
http://www.bagsoflove.co.uk/neoprene.aspx
Simply upload a photo and they will make a mat of it for you on 3.5mm neoprene. It is a bit thicker than the deadzone mat but just the same and can be rolled out creaseless time and time again. I did not use a very high quality picture but it fits my needs perfectly, all for £45 delivered. I am very happy with my purchase.
Adios.

I am a sucker for a sale, I thought I was going to spend no more money on minis for a month or so until Wayland Games had their summer sale. They can be bad at delivery but this I ordered on tuesday and had gotten it by friday, excellent service (check it is in stock and available to deliver though!) and all for £8.50 about 15 bucks to my US brethren. Also I am not that fond of the Wyrd metals but I love these two models.
I bring you The Dreamer, and the best named miniature ever Lord Chompy Bits. Lord Chompy Bits? Amazing.
The Dreamer (on resin base)
Lord Chompy Bits:
Both:
And a model I have had for ages but plan to finish off and ebay for a pittance, Queek Head Taker (taken in awful light)

Good call on the alternative uses angelofvengeance, I think he is suitable for either, but probably more for the Dark Eldar beastie.
CC- True, I love both Queeks. I was once going to start a Skaven army but the hordes of rank and file put me off. This one is actually metal, so it must have been in my hands for a couple of years.
Lord Chompy bits is a heavy git, close to 100 grams.
Today will see no painting, but I got some mortuary base inserts for my McMourning crew, so today is a basing day.

So a nice bit of progress on some more Malifaux and some terrain:
The Dreamer:
Lord Chompy Bits:
I have also done half of the Latigo posse:
Perdita Ortega:
Santiago:
Enslaved Nephilim:
I also did something really daft his week, walked into my local Games Workshop store for the first time in about 4 years, just looking for an impulse buy to pick up and paint. In the end I went for some Chaos Cultists and picked up some terrain from the Lords of the ring range. This scales fine with malifaux, so here we are:
Bang! You Got Me!
The terrain was a real quick job as I never like to do much more than spray and then a few drybrushes, but it fits my purposes just fine.
But the problem? Going into the GW store awoke some memories in me and I ordered the new Dark vengeance boxed set on friday online...what have I done?

Lol! I still feel nothing when i walk into a store that sells gw stuff. Dark vengeance is 5/6th though right. Or did you mean the new new one, that i don't even know the proper name for? All of the painted stuff looks nice, the terrain goes well too. Purpleish was a good choice for chompy bits imo.

Dark vengeance was pulled from shelves a while back and has been updted with the small 7th ed rulebook and an added model, to be released this saturday. One thing for sure is that I have zero interest in the rules, but should garner some fun from painting up the boxed set.
Was very happy with Chompy Bits too, very quick to paint as well.

What have I done...
When you say normal I was thinking Hawk Lords for the Marines and Iron Warriors for the Chaos. It is not a move by me into 40k, but I figured that for the price it was boatload of hard plastic minis for a decent price that I would get a lot more fun out of than my original investment.
I guess I could always sell them on after too.

Indeed!
And by 'not normal' I mean 'not painting them Dark Angels and RedChaosGuys'.
So I certainly approve of the purple and metal that you're proposing. Not that my approval matters!
Iron Warriors were always cool to me, they always seemed less Demon-y than the other groups.

Ageed, the demony side of chaos always put me off a bit (but that is kindof the point). Anyway, progress!
Have completed my Plague faction, a pair of 2A, the 3A Grenade Launcher and a few more 3A's:
Boom!
Group shots: (missing Dr Simmond on the 3rd level of the tower)
I am very happy with the massed look of them, and I now have them all painted to run plenty of variety in 70 point games. Think I will finish my Marauders next.
In the meantime I have painted my first 40k mini for a long time, a nicely drab Chaos Cultist.
My copy of dark vengeance has arrived and I did a few swaps with a friend for his mostly unpainted Assault on Black Reach marines as well, so I already have a sizeable Marine army. but which chapter?
I have narrowed it down to 2 Ultramarine successor chapters, the Doom Legion or the Hawk Lords? So I did a couple of test minis (to a quite basic standard, and unbased) to help me decide, can the good members of DakkaDakka weigh in and give their opinions too?
Doom Legion:
Hawk Lord:
This evening will see me give a few Marine a dettol bath to strip them and the start of me basing the Marines, I may also finish my Malifaux Ortega crew.
Adios!

Well, Doom Legion have an interesting history- they operate from a pre-Heresy star fortress, and now struggle to survive with their honor in tact after half the Chapter turned to Chaos. Colour scheme wise- I think it's too much like painting Necrons but that's just me lol.
Hawk Lords are fairly flyer intensive according to their background so could probably have a fair number of speeders and jump infantry, as well as Storm Talons and Storm Raven gunships. I think they have a nice colour scheme that stands out.
Also- I've attached the GW scheme if that'll help with Hawk Lords.

Half the chapter turned chaos? Meh, what about half a LEGION turning chaos... but uhh hey what do the dark angels know anyway
Plague look great, sir, I like the second gen that kind of looks like he's climbing a ladder, and the overall effect of the group is quite awesome.
I vote doom legion, gunmetal marines always work. Nice choice on the black bolter casing too, it really helps the gun stand out.

@angelofvengeance
Wait...wait...Hawk Lords are pink now? I swear in the older codexes (I sure as hell am not buying the newest one) I own they are purple.
I do like the fast attack background though, I think the Stormtalon is a nice kit for a reasonable price, and bikes and assault marines have always been my favourite. Those purchases are a long way off though.
@Grim:as you know hot water bending makes tiny conversions like that easy, am glad to have them all painted now. As a game it has real legs too, probably not the miniature/design uality to rival Infinity though.
@Warboss_Waaazag: True you do not see many Hawk Lords about, it may be the pink though!
But the score is currently:
Hawk Lords 2
Doom Legion 1.
Thank you for the input everyone

Baby steps Thraxas lol.
I'd say it's more of a purple mate. Similar to Pre heresy Emperors Children.
Also- you can use Raven Guard transfers on shoulder pads and just paint over in gold to make it Hawk Lords instead. Simples.

Well, Infinity has some things going for it, but I know at least one of my buddies so far has preferred deadzone due to lack of measuring tapes and such. I like both, use the infinity models in deadzone if you want to play simpfinity.. and use the deadzone minis in infinity if you want to play complexzone
