Considering that the original movies were mindless action garbage with zero sustenance or semblance of a decent plot or characterization whatsoever...

I guess all the world building went over you head then.
I guess you don't know that world building has nothing to do with plot depth or characterization.

No, but it discredits your idea that the Mad Max movies are just mindless action with zero substance, considering how much effort they dedicate to showing a hostile and dangerous world.
Hardly. A film can be mindless popcorn fun while still having an excellent atmosphere and compelling setting. The concepts aren't mutual. See: Water World.

In any case, that was a badass trailer, certainly filled with lots of mad... but very little Max. Charlize Theron almost seems like the protag.

Maybe that's the twist. Charlize Theron is actually Mad Max!

On an Express Elevator to Hell!!

God I hope not! Thought she was pretty mediocre in Prometheus TBH.

Love that they've kept it in Aus (I know there was some fighting back and forth with the studio over that), and Miller has come back to take the helm for it. If nothing else we should see what he originally had in mind when he didn't have $200 million budget or whatever!

Trailer looked awesome though, one of the best I have seen in a while.
