Subject: Mad Max: Fury Road SDCC Trailer (official, not a leak)
Six mistakes mankind keeps making century after century: Believing that personal gain is made by crushing others; Worrying about things that cannot be changed or corrected; Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it; Refusing to set aside trivial preferences; Neglecting development and refinement of the mind; Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do

Nothing about that trailer makes me want to see the movie. It looks too busy, frenzied, and chaotic. Other than wanting to be a Micheal Bay movie I do not get a sense of what the movie is about.

It is about badass car chases, lots of guns, and over the top violence. What else does a Mad Max movie need.

A good setting and atmosphere.

"Oh, good God Hollywood. Can you make anything new or do you have to just throw out remakes forever?"
There. It had to be said at least once in this thread (more likely a whole ton of times by people who haven't read the earlier posts of it), so it's been said. And also so it doesn't have to be said again, this movie's not a remake by another shtick director. It's by the original director, and takes place in the middle of the trilogy. That really pretty much stops it from being a remake.
Phew. Now we can get on with talking about how cool this is going to be, because Mad Max was one of the more awesome things about my childhood.

You did see the universally recognized coolest part of the Road Warrior, right? That is a good description of that scene.

Yeah, I'm a little more optimistic after seeing that trailer not because there's action (it's an action movie that's to be suspected) but visually it looks like the other movies.

That's debatable I like a lot of the extreme long shots showing a desolate apocalyptic wasteland and the scene where Mad Max is eating dog food as it shows a sense of desperation (in visual form rather telling the audience) to survive this hostile world.

Stirkes me as being a bit early to start drumming up interest with trailers. Got to wait another 10 months to see it. Not sure why they are waiting so long to release it given it has been finished for some time I am lead to believe.
I get it is a Mad Max movie and i will admit I have not seen any of the originals, so maybe I am under educated in the series, but from that trailer, it just looks like micheal bay movie, which in today's movie environment is not that special as anyone can do explosions and in my own opinion, that is not a good thing. But that is my own 2 cents, if I end up being wrong I will be happy to say so, but looking at this trailer, I am not that interested in the movie thus far.

To be fair most trailers for most action movies show nothing but action scenes so it's hard to get much context from the film.

Michael Bay didn't invent explosions in movies. If you haven't seen the previous films in the series how can you even begin to criticize this offering? Michael Bay's movies are glossy, with slick, pretty people doing ridiculous things. This certainly has ridiculous carnage, but the tone is clearly different than a stereotypical Bay movie and the people in this trailer look almost alien in their otherness. These are wasteland savages doing savage things in a hostile world--not a bloodless Pearl Harbor battle sequence or a slow motion running scene with Megan Fox. Hell, Charlize Theron, arguably one of the most attractive women in Hollywood, is sporting a shaved head and a jury-rigged prosthetic arm. If Bay were making this movie she'd be glammed out and, yes, running in slow motion. This is so far from Bay's signature work that your criticism is humorous in its ridiculousness.

I would go to see it just for the cybernetics. They look delightfully clunky.,

Although to be honest one of the girls shown in the movie that it looks like Charlize is protecting is the British model from Transformers 3. Of course she then get's abducted by savages with people strapped to the fronts of their cars (I can pretty much assume why), so I doubt she will be doing any slo-mo running.

That's because it is her.

Was Max in it? I only saw him in the first few seconds and tied to a car.

Ok, yes I'll have one of those please. I was sceptical, but that looks like it follows the original's formula enough, and well yes it just the first trailer, but at least the visual style's down. Pretty blonde lady = meh, but I can run with that. Overall better than the crap I'm dragged along to watch at the cinema usually I presume, so that's a thing (its not sitting through Sex and the City, so by this point complaining about what I go out to see has become moot. There, that's my review. Mad Max is better than Sex and the City).

I guess you don't know that world building has nothing to do with plot depth or characterization.
