Daring Dark Eldar Raider Rider
|
My favourite kits have been
- Space Marine Sternguard (so many options, great looking sergeant)
- Space wolf tactical kit (just feels like there are so many options, the bits go together really strongly too)
Disgusting kits
- Finecast Incubi (bendy klaives - ARRRRGH! Also, one of them snapped coming out of my case. Brilliant)
- Metal Sword Brethren (ended up using so much superglue the model lost all detail, it was a horrible, frustrating experience)
- DE warriors (very fiddly, pretty much every one fell apart after I put them together)

Delicious kits
-Tyranid Trygon
- Space Marine Tactical squad
Disgusting kits
- SoB Penitent engine, had to make a popsicle stick frame to suspend it while gluing and pinning
- SoB Exorcist, so much green stuff and filing
- Drop pods, such a pain to make sure the doors aligned properly to open and clos right.
- Storm Raven (with chapter house extension kit) took a lot of work to make it all work together and put the LED's in as well

Sword-Bearing Inquisitorial Crusader

Disgusting: Worst kits I ever dealt with are penitent engines, exorcists, and the thunderfire cannon
Delicious: anything Dark Eldar that's not Finecast

Sometimes, you just gotta take something cause the model is freakin cool... |

Delicious: Most Tyranid MC kits. I love putting those guys together.
Disgusting: Tyrranocyte. Looks like a terd after a night of binge eating Taco Bell followed by 5 glasses of Metamucil. In terms of modeling/painting PITA, hands down the Ghost Ark. Also, the Flyrant, while fun to model, was no fun whatsover to base. Arnold Schwarzenegger couldn't lift all the weight I needed to counter that front-top heavy SOB.

Delicious : Centurion kit, i put the 3 miniatures together so quickly and easily, just a delight to build.
Disgusting : Land Raider Crusader, so much frustration and my other one might have just been me having an off day but Tau Fire Warriors.

Nurgle Predator Driver with an Infestation
Calixis sector / Screaming Vortex
|
Delicious: Raptors and Chaos Vindicator. They both assembled very well, and with the plethora of extra options in both kits, I built a Tzeench disc sorcerer with all the special weapons I wanted, and still had enough for my next 5 sergeants (and for those f***ing plague marines that only come with 1 special weapon for 7 models!).
For roughly the same reasons, the Daemon Prince kit. You can build him any way you want, and still have bits left over for your next few HQ models.
Disgusting: Heldrake. That guy's wings were hell to build properly, and kept falling too low and touching the ground. In the end, I changed his base and shoulders to give him an extra mm.

Tough Traitorous Guardsman
|
The Good:
The Imperial Knights, easy to modify and convert but at the same time easy and fun to put togheter.
The IG command squad is also a favorit, lots and lots of cool bits, so much variation, freaking melta and plasma guns (only IG box that have them).
The Bad:
I hate standard Guardsmen and Necron warriors since they are way to boring and almost all come in the same pose with no real ability for variation.
Most of the DE stuff can be a pain to put togheter since its usually really tiny (looking at you wyches) adding in all the pointy bits that easily break.
The argh wtf is this sh*t (/Ugly):
Titans... require so much pre preparation before assembly. Heavy and big so you need to pin everything. Most glue (I tried) refuse to stick. All those moulding lines and chunks of plastic you had to remove. It was not fun.

Delicious: Sternguard, Power Armored GK.
Mix em in the right combinations and you might have some spiffy Honor Guard. PAGK gets special credit for containing a veritable gakload of Space Marine power weapons. Like, holy FEL is that a TON of power weapons. And a Staff to make a Librarian, no less! Sternguard has tons of cool bitz and tons of combi-weapons. And even a sheathed sword on hip piece!
Disgusting: Penitent Engine.
This is the one model where I had to take a two-week break from trying to assemble it so I wouldn't hurl the partially-assembled pieces across the room. And maybe the only reason I didn't was because at the other end of the room was a glass window and it was almost winter. Came back to it and took a gakload of green stuff and used it as adhesive. Ugliest hack job ever, but it went together and I'm not fiddling with it further. I wish it would go at least Finecast, though a plastic box of 3 would be awesome. Probably the only reason I built the second one at all was because I ordered it at the same time as I got the first one. Went for the Green Stuff immediately for that one. Worst is the eldar wraith lord. It's so static. I don't mind models that look like they are standing idle or models that are not dynamically posed but this thing looks like it's never moved and has no life in it. It needs extensive drilling and pinning to make it look good.
It's a melancholy ghost that is only awake because its entire craftworld almost went extinct after fighting off 2 hive fleets and the stupidity/incompetence of Matt Ward. Do you expect it to be popping bottles?
