Are you sure all his point totals are correct? It's no fun bringing 1500 to a 2000 fight.

His opponent's list is 1600pts, based on a legal build with the gear and units mentioned.

10 Warriors
-Gark

5 Immortals
-Night Scythe

Doom Scythe

Doomsday Ark

5 Lychguard

Minimum Canoptek Harvest w/ Gloom Prism and 3x Whip Coils

How about that they can all take hammers now for the Paladins. That awkward moment where you don't read the codex carefully

All of that AP 2 should do nicely. Especially since he can't kill more than a unit a turn with his deathstar if you avoid multi-assaults correctly. The issue is that unless it's strength 8, you are looking at a 5+/5+ for each wound, so you'll need a lot of shots to kill the deathstar.

Since he's not bringing Draigo, he will have some difficulty getting gate of infinity, so you can just use the baneblade to literally melt that unit (it has a str 9 ap 2 large blast right?)

Ignoring the deathstar really is the best option, however

Taking fast units and ignoring the death star and playing the objective game is your second best bet. Taking the baneblade is your best bet. Insist on playing with bao/LVO FAQ, so you can still blast/template India units at bs1.

Tell him in us only sets a units bs /WS to one. When he disagrees, tell him to show you in his rulebook. Make sure he is rolling for his powers. If he generates with cards, insist he rolls, because statistically he shouldn't get in is against you every game. He probably has his in is card marked, if he randomly generates at all.

This is a person who believes the entire internet is lies and only follows GW rules.

Doesn't seem like he does that too well without a rulebook. I'd print out the bao/LVO FAQ and bring it to your next game. They've done a good job of trying to rebalance the game and fix things. Insist on at least trying the FAQ out, after all, you are both friends and just trying to have a good time, right?

There is a difference between homebrew and widely accepted tournament rules.

If you give up on fun, and you aren't playing WAAC tournament/tournament prep, you should honestly quit playing and find a new game.

I personally find the super competitive tournaments a lot of fun. I don't mind playing fun games, but if given a choice, I'd always choose competitive. This isn't what your friend is doing though.

Sorry, I meant I gave up on fun when playing him. I can still enjoy other games. To him, non GW = homebrew.

If you can still enjoy games with other people, just play other people.

As in forfeit and say "you win, new game?" Or does he actually play it out?

He plays it out. He's a good guy when the power doesn't go to his head.
