That is a great idea, and I feel silly for not thinking of it! I have been so scared of free hand, and a marker would do the job!

But which marker to use? I haven't had much luck with ink. It always seems to slide right off. Ill admit the tattoos are half the reason I want to do this, so I need to do them well!
I figure most people can't do those small designs because they try to do them as complex as the picture books. Simplicity will be the key here I believe.
Even though the scheme is rather bland I think its got a lot of potential. Instead of worrying about several colours I can focus on depth. This may be the perfect canvas for my new "total drybrush" technique!

Micron pens. You can pick up a set for about $10 to $15 at most hobby/art stores. That's what I use on mine and it looks great. I use a 0.2mm size. Only thing you have to be careful with is varnishing over it. Certain varnishes will make the ink run. I think that problem mostly occurs in the aerosol varnishes.

So basically the conclusion of this thread is:
1. They're a cool chapter with awesome tactics
2. They look badass
3. Tyberos is a pretty cool guy.

As for modeling the rank and file troops.....
Remember that after the Badab Conflict, the Carcharodons rampaged across the Mantis Warriors and took anything they could from the destroyed chapters armory. Current model power armor, weapons and even Transport would be widely available.
I recently started a Carcharodon force myself.
A handful of lightning claw termies, a small squad of tac termies and a trio of Librarian Termies.
An Assault squad kitted similar to the Raven Guard with dual lightning claws and a jump pack Chaplain.
Some Tactical marines with a bunch of chaos chainswords for a slightly offbeat look.
More scout snipers/ assault scouts armed again with a bunch of close chaos combat weapons.
Two small squads of devestator marines to provide small skirmish heavy weapon support.
A whole crew of heavily armored dreads with several Mortis style dread for heavy support
Some techmarines and a master of Forge to allow me to field a crew of dreads if desired.
A big chunk of chainsword wielding bikers supported by some meltagun trikes.
Landraider crusaders, predators and a vindicator for some armored punch for handling Monstrous creatures.
I agree the tattoo marks are a pain to recreate. I am trying to use ink and a tiny brush to paint them on and its working, but not as well as I would like.
No desire to field Tyberos. He runs his part of the chapter. My troops fly far and wide on their own at this point. All the leadership comes from normal HQ types. I always felt the strength of the Carcharodons lies in each soldier doing his thing versus one guy who carries the whole unit with OP rules. Oh, and dual twin linked Las cannons/autocannons. Those help a little bit also.
I am also putting together a BFG fleet for my little force. A little creative sculpting on some chaos warships allows you to recreate the old model ships used back before the Heresy. A reasonable group of modern Marine support craft help tie the modified chaos ships back to their Imperial designs.

Agreed with your other points, but not quite so much here. I'm a fan of bringing Chapter Masters for my marines when I can because Orbital Bombardments are groovy, and if I'm going to bring one for a chapter, I want to actually bring the active Chapter Master if he's named and has his own rules.
I also don't really feel like Tybby is OP. End of the day, he's only inches better than an equivalently equipped/costed Chapter Master because of his Red Thirst +Strength thing. Slightly undercosted for his wargear, but still is a T4 unit without Eternal Warrior, and without any shooting.

I get both logic, but I would be bringing Redwake fo' sho' for same reasons you would. Same reason I bring Typhus and Asterion!

"Because the Wolves kill cleanly, and we do not. They also kill quickly, and we have never done that, either. They fight, they win, and they stalk back to their ships with their tails held high. If they were ever ordered to destroy another Legion, they would do it by hurling warrior against warrior, seeking to grind their enemies down with the admirable delusions of the 'noble savage'. If we were ever ordered to assault another Legion, we would virus bomb their recruitment worlds; slaughter their serfs and slaves; poison their gene-seed repositories and spend the next dozen decades watching them die slow, humiliating deaths. Night after night, raid after raid, we'd overwhelm stragglers from their fleets and bleach their skulls to hang from our armour, until none remained. But that isn't the quick execution the Emperor needs, is it? The Wolves go for the throat. We go for the eyes. Then the tongue. Then the hands. Then the feet. Then we skin the crippled remains, and offer it up as an example to any still bearing witness. The Wolves were warriors before they became soldiers. We were murderers first, last, and always!" —Jago Sevatarion
