So Space Sharks guys. Are they awesome or what? However... with so little known about them what would be a nice fluffy space shark list look like. Kind of want to splurge here and run Tyberos. Which books do I need for him? Codex obviously but which IA?
Also just want to start up a discussion about the mighty Carcharodons! So lets have at it! Automatically Appended Next Post: I will start with the Nicor which is reportedly one of their main vessels. Apparently it predates the Heresy. Oh the mystery!

Hey what else does that book cover as far as loyalists go? I don't know much about the IA series. I know that my chapter, sons of Medusa were at badab so will I luck out and get some other cool stuff out of IA 10?

Carcharodons are basically loyalist Night Lords. So yes, very cool.
I might be wrong, but I always thought they had a fondness for Assault Marines and other fast, close combat oriented stuff.

In terms of the background for them, HH3 Extermination heavy hints that they originated as a Raven Guard 'Nomad Predation Fleet', which were fleets of RG that Corax thought were too bloodthirsty so he sent away to the far reaches of the Galaxy. It still doesn't outright say it but it's hinted.
And yes, the Carcharodons are awesome

You don't need assault marines unless you want jump infantry. Carchardon tactical marines have the unique option of purchasing a combat blade or chainsword for 1 pt each.
Not too shabby for a ten man squad getting +1 attack.
Fluff wise, I didn't read anything that says anything extraordinary.
They seem to like to bash heads. They get bonuses for killing in close combat.
Once they kill in close combat that particular squad has to move towards the next closest enemy.
They wear mostly mk5 armor. Their skin is grey. They don't wear normal codex astartes symbols. From the illustrations I've seen they decorate their armor and faces with Pacific Islander tribals.
Nothing mentions whether they favor heavy armor or light tactics.

More importantly does it give you any good list ideas for running Carcharons?
I was thinking Tyberos plus his troop terminators would be a great start

Tactically, they're supposed to like surprise and sudden assaults, and tend to go into bloodthirsty massacre mode as the battle escalates.
Note that unlike Blood Angels or World Eaters, they aren't bezerkers. Tyberos is entirely in control of his actions, that's just the way he fights.
Note that the reason Heresy-pattern armour is so common is that it's essentially a 'patch-job' - you'll find that the Carcharodons who get used against rebel and renegade astartes tend to pick over the corpse after they've won, and resupply power armour, ammunition, etc from their defeated foes.

Pretty cool to play. They all cause fear and their tactical marines are kind of like chaos space marines in that they can swap their bolters for CCWs of purchase a CCW for 1pt. They also get rage after wining a combat, but must consolidate towards the nearest enemy unit. Only real problem is that they are desperate allies with every other imperial force. Tyberos is awesome as well. He's a close combat beast that amplifies their chapter tactics to give them +1 strength as well as rage when they win a combat. He also lets you take a lightning claw terminator squad as a troops choice.
Fluff
Not a lot is known about them. They are fleet based and operate outside the Imperium's borders. Their gene seed most matches the Raven Guard, though this is likely a lie to cover up the fact that they are Night Lords, which makes sense because a lot of their behaviours match the Night Lords more than the Raven Guard. They mix and math several different patterns of armour and possess tattoos that are similar to New Zealand Māori tattoos. Not a lot is known about their organisation apart from the fact that every company has its own veterans and scouts.
Hope this helps

The behaviours being more like the NL than the RG is because they were from the RG before Corax was found, who were much more vicious and bloodthirsty (they spent a lot of time with the Luna Wolves). Corax basically banished them when he took over the legion, sending them too 'the outer darkness'. The RG have a lot of the tribal/Maori tattoo markings too, and before Corax they had grey armour.

They are indeed awesome! my favorite loyalist chapter, just ahead of the Minotaurs. If you can get them you can kit bash some melee tacticals with the CSM kits. Most of the arms could pass for non-chaos older marks. Maybe even some of the torsos. Hell, now I wanna chack my termies for possible conversions.

"Because the Wolves kill cleanly, and we do not. They also kill quickly, and we have never done that, either. They fight, they win, and they stalk back to their ships with their tails held high. If they were ever ordered to destroy another Legion, they would do it by hurling warrior against warrior, seeking to grind their enemies down with the admirable delusions of the 'noble savage'. If we were ever ordered to assault another Legion, we would virus bomb their recruitment worlds; slaughter their serfs and slaves; poison their gene-seed repositories and spend the next dozen decades watching them die slow, humiliating deaths. Night after night, raid after raid, we'd overwhelm stragglers from their fleets and bleach their skulls to hang from our armour, until none remained. But that isn't the quick execution the Emperor needs, is it? The Wolves go for the throat. We go for the eyes. Then the tongue. Then the hands. Then the feet. Then we skin the crippled remains, and offer it up as an example to any still bearing witness. The Wolves were warriors before they became soldiers. We were murderers first, last, and always!" —Jago Sevatarion

This is not.
Join the voices of reason and don't allow Forgeworld to unnecessarily Latinize the names of Chapters.
That said, the Space Sharks are a pretty cool chapter, if a bit unruly and prone to getting carried away and making bad decisions. Gotta be kinda specific with what you order them to do. If you ask them to create a distraction while you attack, remind them that while blowing up the entire planet is distracting, it's probably not the best way to do it since everyone else is on the planet too.

Except it's still just Space Sharks, just in Pseudo-Latin.
I mean, you could call your Chapter the Anatinos Iratos, but they'd still be the Angry Platypi.
The reason it's silly is that there is literally no other Chapter in the fluff with a Latinized name, and that's because High Gothic isn't actually a language. Everything in the 50K universe is in High or Low Gothic, and then translated into English (or whatever language it gets published in) so that you can read it. That's why they are Blood Angels and not Angelorum Sanguis , and Dark Angels not Angelorum Obscurus or Lupi Astra, Summaclassiarii or whatever other fake-Latin alternate.
