Is it just me or was the identity of Jason Todd as the the Arkham Knight rather obvious? He'd always been on high on my list of possible alter egos, but as soon as the Joker vision taunted Bats with visions of Jason's 'death' there was never any doubt on my mind it was going to be him.
I almost hoped that Rocksteady where going to surprise me and all the Jason foreshadowing was was actually just going to a clever bit of distraction, but no.

Spoiler:
Possibly. I was certain from his dialogue that it was going to be a former Robin/Nightwing (constant references to how he knows Bruce's secrets, and calling him 'old man', but with my limited Batman knowledge I was thinking Damien Wayne was the likely candidate.
In other news, finished the main story last night. Pretty damn good, and overall I'm satisfied.
Spoiler:
Kind of annoyed they backtracked on Oracle's suicide, as that was a great scene first time round, but on the other hand the resolution of the whole thing is good enough. The metaphysical Joker rampage was a bit odd, but again done well.
Now to clear up the Most Wanted.

Finished the main story and almost all of the "Most Wanted"(haven't finished Riddler; because Riddler is booooring!) side missions.
I'm pretty happy with the game. I feel a bit letdown concerning the identity of the Arkham Knight, but I do like the alterations they made to the overall story arc surrounding the character.
I still have three left over mines and the Riddler trophies to find (did all the Catwoman-related stuff already).
I want the full ending, so I'm going to 100% it.
I was kinda disappointed that...
Spoiler:
The Azreal plot kinda went nowhere. All that build up, plus the stuff from the last game, and then the conclusion is... he just kinda wanders off. What a waste!
Same goes for the Hush plotline. Very well done in the last game and it amounts to maybe a couple of minutes of gameplay here - literally one button press.
Two-Face was disappointing as well, because it was so damned easy. There was some challenge to the Penguin stuff as you had to get to the vehicle, track it, sneak in and then do a bunch of fighting. Two-Face was just an easy predator section where you could do whatever and no one could hear you, and then a regular predator section on the same map.
Some of the ground checkpoints were tough. Needed the Drone disruptor upgrade for a few of them. The watch-tower puzzles were cool though. I loved figuring them out.
I'm annoyed that I didn't get the freeze grenades until after I did the final bit. I didn't know that you could get them the first time you go to the movie studios.

I agree with almost all of that, being at a similar place in the game (just Riddler trophies, a couple of Firemen and some checkpoints to go (and their new boss...)). The one thing that has bugged me slightly is the lack of a proper boss brawl or even real fight.
Spoiler:
Firefly and Man-bat are just a case of repeating the same chases 4 times (whereas the Firefly fight on Origins was one of the best)
Dent and the final Knight battle are just simple predator missions, and Pyg didn't really qualify as a boss.
Too. Many. Tank. Battles. The one with the Knight on the surface was decent, almost a Predator Encounter with the Batmobile, but the underground one got a bit wearing, and from the dialogue snatches it sounds like Deathstroke is going to be another tank-on-tank fight (again annoying, as he was epic on Origins). I was hoping for a proper brawl with both of them.
Penguin's ones were good, largely because the Nightwing team up battles are great fun, and for the first time I actually enjoyed the main Riddler bits (suitably cerebral without being infuriating), so I can't complain there. It just seems that there were a few wasted opportunities in favour of 'use the Batmobile!!!'
Still, it's a great game, and the first time I've ever made a point of absolutely going for 100% completion! I need the proper ending, damn it! (Although I suspect it might be largely interchangeable with the final scenes of Dark Knight Rises! )
Any word yet on what villains are showing up in the DLC? Of the expansions listed, that's the only one I'm likely to bother with.
Fully agree with the last 2 posts the villians are just under utilised 1 or 2 seem to appear just to tie up lose ends. It's an enjoyable game overall but never really measures up to the others. The Batmobile is over used there's some great puzzles it's used for but it just seems to be forced in everywhere even if it's not needed. I only realised that I only used the line launcher twice in the entire game so far as the Batmobile ejector can do similar.
I've finished everything but the Riddler section I have 150 left to get and I'll persevere to get the proper ending but some have me stumped right now so I just marked them and moved on. I finished up the mines last night I've been trying for 3 days on some of them with little luck I kept getting swamped near the end but it just sort of clicked last night.
I'll probably try for the platinum trophy once I finish up with the Riddler but I know one of the hidden ones is only unlocked in new game+ and I'm not sure how motivated I'll be to play it over again.
For those of you who bought the season pass, Batgirl's DLC "A Matter of Family" arrives on July 14th for season pass holders and July 21st for anyone who wants to purchase it separately.
It will be $6.99 in NA or £5.80 in the UK.
I watched a Let's Play of Arkham City and it changed my mind about not buying it. I watched a Let's Play of Arkham Knight and it convinced me I was right to not buy it. From what I've heard the core gameplay is better than ever - I especially like the look of the tag team combat, and they have a good scene using the improved investigation from Arkham Origins - but there's less of it now that Mandatory Batmobile Sections are in.
A less destructive Batmobile that isn't shoehorned into the game everywhere, a more traditional Gotham City rather than one that has been completely abandoned to the supervillains and the gangs and the ability to free roam with characters apart from Batman would have been more in line with the Arkham game I would be looking for.
Spoiler:
And no Joker. Head!Joker has some good lines, but I'd gladly sacrifice them if it meant not treating the character as some kind of elemental force he shouldn't be.

Agreed! There are aspects that could have been better (mostly the boss fights, or lack thereof), but this is the best game I've played in a long time!
Regarding the spoiler:
Spoiler:
I don't think they're using the Joker as an 'elemental force' as such. Batman has Joker's blood in him from Arkham City, so would have been undergoing the same transformation eventually as the other Infected (hence why he has a spare cell in the batcave, it's for him once he's beaten Scarecrow). The fear gas just brought it out a little more prominently, to the point where it becomes an actual mental manifestation. It's not like he's immortal or anything.
Besides, more Hamill Joker can't be a bad thing!)

Finished off the last of the Riddler trophies last night to get the 100% and full ending I'm not sure it was entirely worth the effort but it's done now.
Spoiler for the 100% complete ending.
Spoiler:
the scene with the couple with the kid was an interesting nod to the robbery and deaths of the Waynes it was a sort of a full circle thing. The fiery Batman descending on the robbers right at the end is left very ambiguous and almost looks like a fear toxin induced nightmare. I guess it gives them an option to continue on at some point if they so wish even after the Knightfall protocol kills off Bruce Wayne/Batman at least in the eyes of the residents of Gotham. The question remains was it Bruce returned again as the criminal element had lost all fear of reprisals after years of no Batman on the scene, was it someone else taking up the Batman role or is it just a hallucination? we may never know

The Batmobile's a big one. The combat isn't as strong mechanically: offense and defense are largely decoupled from one another since aiming and firing has no interaction with strafing and dodging unless you drive behind a wall, while the regular Arkham combat forces you to consider how or if to press your attack to avoid being counterattacked, sucker punched or shot. And Batman's not about barrelling around smashing into parked cars, concrete pillars and pedestrians and shooting tanks which are only unmanned to excuse shooting them.

I'll be the first to say that the game has too much Batmobile combat, but that's not enough to bring the whole game or even the Batmobile as a concept down. The Batmobile is fantastic and an organic aspect of the game - another tool on Batman's utility belt. And the game's dodging mechanics are simple. You don't counter-attack in a car.

And you don't have to do that. The most "barrelling" you do are during the APC and Firefly missions, which can be skipped, and you can spend most of the game gliding around like you did in City.
You're putting too much emphasis on the car (like Rocksteady did in all their marketing). Tank combat gets dull by the 10th time you do it, but it's a relatively minor part of the game compared to everything else.

Nope. Still not there.

I just finished the game yesterday. I'd say an adequate way to describe it, is I love the game and hate the story. There was way too much Batmobile, and the no actual boss fights was a huge downer (hopefully they fix that with DLC).
Spoiler:
Seriously, they dropped the ball on the story. They had all these great villains, and who did they utilize? Scarecrow was insanely badass (what little time he had on screen). Harley was almost completely absent. Penguin and Two-Face relegated to small parts of side missions only. No Firefly or Man-bat boss fights (and repetitive side missions), Hush and Deacon have one side mission each. As said, all that foreshadowing in City about Azrael, and then he does nothing.
Not to mention, Jason Todd was Arkham Knight? What happened to your balls, Rocksteady? What happened to "he's a completely new character, guys!" That was so stupid, and full of plot holes, not to mention. Where was Croc? Still no Killer Moth or Great White?
Big sigh.
Kingdom Death Fanatic. Dark Eldar: Kabal of the Fragile Breath. Dark Elves: Allegiance to the Black Crown. Also, Masons, Cygnar, and Legion of Everblight. All unnamed.

Holy gak that is an awesome username. Please tell me your army is called Kabal of the Fragile Breath. Morathi's Darkest Sin has some competition here for best handle, I think.
I've been working through the Riddler missions with my friend. Believe me, it's as if the real Riddler designed some of them... we did them all in three or four days, but working alone may take longer and some of the hidden items seem nearly impossible to find without going online.
They REALLY do not hold your hand in this game -- it's the first game I've seen in years that actually challenges your brain. Most people simply will not have the stamina to solve all the riddles. It's absolutely maddening.
Upcoming work for 2022: * Calgar's Barmy Pandemic Special
* Battle Sisters story (untitled)
* T'au story: Full Metal Fury
* 20K: On Eagles' Wings
* 20K: Gods and Daemons

While they are infuriating at times, I am finding these the most enjoyable set of Riddler challenges. They're not easy, but at the same time they are (mostly) doable, a test of your brain rather than just fiendishly difficult nastiness.
I think he means the [] riddles with the written clue and you have to find something in the area like a picture or object and then scan it most of the time you can figure out what your looking for but trying to find it takes a long time even when an informant gives you the location. I ended up googling 3 or 4 as I lost patience with them, Selina's collar was particularly difficult to find!
