While the Stormspear is 40 points of free, you might not have enough AA with just the Onager(s) if you don't that at least two Icarus platforms. If you are taking enough Icarus Onagers, the definitely go with the Stormspears.

IMHO, unless you're expecting a lot of air, one Onager is enough.

Are any of the major tournaments letting you field all Knights? With them being LOW I am worried you can't field them. I don't have my book yet the local store only ordered a couple and they all sold.

Words of wisdom by Prophet40k

That game put my faith in Khorne to the test. My table-neighbor looked at the match up and said "Here you're going to need these more than I will" and handed me a bag of Jello shots. They must have pleased Khorne because I walked out 11-2.

Now looking at another list with MORE tyrants and MORE mawlocks, I said to myself. "Oh well looks like it's time for another beer. It'll take the sting out of this. LOL"

And he is legal, because he's technically an Imperial Knight, not a character....Is this doable?

Kind of. It's still up for debate that you get a second 4++ Ion Shield via Sanctuary, and it is debatable that you would get the Invul bonus to the 6++ off-facing shield from Sanctuary. My personal read on it is Grenaticus would have a 2++ to one facing, and a 5++ on the other three.

SJ

Yeah... Trying to convince your opponent you have a 2++, 3++, and 5++ is likely going to make you look like TFG...

AND why is that a problem?

I'm rather curious about this too. I'm keeping an eye on ITC, Novacon, and Adepticon rules for how they deal with this.

Because part of the game is enjoying yourself and showing a modicum of sportsmanship...? Why would you want to be TFG anyway?

I'm currently building 12 Kataphron to go with my Knights list as allies, what should I arm them with? I've also got 4 Ironstriders with the lascannons to give me additional ranged AA firepower that Knights lack, I'm getting 2 Onager for AA type duties, and obviously I have the Dominus for the HQ slot.

You don't need the lascannon Ironstriders if you're getting 2 Onagers. Also, Onagers and Ironstriders are Skitarii, Kataphron and Dominus are Cult Mechanicus. Which are you running as allies?

Doctadeth wrote:I'm facing a guy who is TFG, and I want to irritate him.

That's not being TFG. That's giving the TFG a taste of his own medicine.

Yeah I get that, but to take Onagers and Ironstriders, you need 2 Troops choice as "tax" as well (though in this case neither Vanguard nor Rangers are a poor tax). You just didn't call them out specifically so I wasn't sure if you were doing 2 allies or confusing them as the same faction. Could you break down more specifically which Knights you were taking? It'll give a better idea of what your army might be lacking in terms of firepower.

I typically play between 3k and 4k, most games have a LOW or 2, anything up to a Warhound or Revenant.

I have access to all of the Knights variants, two of everything except the FW ones, which I have one of each, so I can make changes to this, but this is what I was thinking:

Exalted Court
Lancer - High King
Acheron
Castigator
Crusader - with melta & stormspear
Errant

Im playing an apoc game soon with two Bigmek Stompas on the opposite side.
I have chosen two Errants with chainswords, stormspears and meltaguns.

Any tactics or ideas for them VS the Stompas? Im playing somewhat thematically so would like to charge and have a toe to toe rumble. Good or bad?

If you really want an epic battle, the Errant will serve you well with its 2 D weapons.

Only in WH40k can you be considered a bad person for trying to win the game...

Here's what I don't get about people dogging the crusader. Even though it has no D weapon it's still strength 10 in combat. It doesn't mind getting close. Melta a vehicle down, krak middle some MEQ, thermal cannon some things, the avenger Gatling some more things!

Then charge and be Lysander.

Getting into Melta range is going to be tricky since you're measuring from the weapon barrel. But yes, I do agree that Crusaders are still very viable close combat beasts, especially when you consider that it still has stomp and HoW

The crusader definitely makes the most out of being a super heavy with all its weapons.

Agreed. Unless you're expecting to go up against another Knight or Gargantuan Creature (Wraithknight, I'm looking at you) the extra bonus of having a D weapon isn't that big of a deal.

I have my Knight all built except for the arms. I have no idea what I want. I am playing Space Marines Sons of Medusa, an Iron Hands successor.

I have a very shooty army so far with a Contempor Mortis with Kheres and a Sicarn. Waiting on new book for a squad of Devs.

Any Ways I play against a lot of Eldar and Tyranid armies. I am trying to figure out what would be the best config against those I am leaning towards the Crusader Dakka Knight. Just something to put down a ton of fire on the squishy eldar and blob Nids and I will probably give it an Icarus to handle the Flyrants.

I guess my question would be am I just going overboard with the shooting and need to get some more Melee with a sword and Battle Cannon and focus on a big melee hitter or am I just being a bit too hooked on the Dakka Knight in all its shooty glory.

Bring the dakka knight. The knight is already str 10 AP2 in combat without the sword.
