The majority of cinema viewers don't care/know about the licensed fan fiction of the EU, so it doesn't really matter if they use it or not. Being concerned about how a film may or may not line up with the EU only leads to pain (and probably loneliness) which in turn leads to anger, ect ect Dark Side.

Just curios to see if after declaring the EU out, that Disney would plunder the basics of a short story from the star wars adventure journal.

Well why shouldn't they? I'd prefer that they adapted the best parts of the EU than ignore it entirely. For instance, I'm hoping the Solo family (Han and Leia) have force sensitive twin children, one of whom falls to the dark side, the other becomes Luke's apprentice or something.

As long as the original source material and authors are acknowledged of course.

We already know thats not happening. We have our female lead Rei which is Han and Leia's daughter.

Cato Sicarius, after force feeding Captain Ventris a copy of the Codex Astartes for having the audacity to play Deathwatch, chokes to death on his own D-baggery after finding Calgar assembling his new Eldar army.

I believe it got let slip at the Star Wars day panel, but it was heavily suspected long before that.

It would explain some of the lines from the second trailer (the one where Luke was speaking to someone). Though I admit, I'd be very sad not to see Jaina or Anakin (screw Jacen).

Will it also have Sean Bean dying in it? Will it have Michelle Rodriguez playing a tough chick who dies in the third act? Will Samuel L Jackson say 'melon-fether'? Will Christopher Walken make weird eyes and over emphasise random syllables?

I should stop now.

Jackson's already been in Star Wars.

And his lightsaber did indeed have "Bad melon-fether" inscribed in the handle!

Surprised nobody posted this, which Donnie Yen had put up on Instagram:

Helmet on the far right is meant to be our "first look" at a Rebel's piece of equipment it seems.

So Rebels will have Storm Troopers too?

My impression is, Disney knows Clone/Storm Troopers sell. I call this the "Games Workshop Gambit."

I think it would make sense for the Rebels to take some of the imperial gear that they can get their hands on and start using it.

Maybe the story will involve some of them taking on the imperial trappings and becoming maybe a little bit too much like the Empire they replaced?

Helmet design looks very similar to the Alliance Marine(the guy wearing head to toe black armor), so it could be an homage.

I'd guess that Rebel helmet is going to be a one-off piece of character gear rather than the film featuring an army of identically armed Rebel soldiers. It's supposed to be about a small team anyway, and a helmet could be a pretty good visual distinguishing feature for one of them.

It's the one of the left I'm interested in, I'm guessing Imperial but what? Pilot? Some elite trooper?

It's supposed to be about a Rebel cell, and depending on how Star Wars: Rebels plays out this season--they could very well have identically/similarly equipped soldiers.

Remember that the Rebel Alliance were guerrilla fighters, but they also made a point of being seen as legitimate--which meant uniforms.
