Thanks LeCacty.

Infantry squads 1 and 2 (shotguns and laspistols) are now complete.. Part way through finishing infantry squad 3 (lasguns) then I will have finished a platoon! In the mean time I was trying to figure out ways to distinguish my disciples from my infantry other than using a painting scheme. I played around with the skiitari kit and accidentally made an Arch Demagogue. It's just a concept not sure if I will keep it but I wanted to hear your feedback on whether it looks cool and would fit in with the army the mechanical logo I will keep as there is a Renegade forgeworld in their system, and it would make sense that the leader of a force would get their best armour. The Khorne iconography because the Arch Demagogue is a Bloody Handed Reaver dedicated to Khorne!

Here is the command squad of disciples. Four with shotgun (so I can have a minimum points squad if necessary), one with plasma gun and one with the banner of hate. Ran out of legs so I couldn't build more exhibit some serious surgery on the mono-pose bloodreavers kit I have (which is really nice).

As you can see from the above pictures, the legs are far too big for the stomach section of the Vanguard torsos. With a little bit of rough greenstuff work I have blended the torso to the legs to create a smooth transition. I have also changed back the arms to the scion style with a few axes and swords from the blood reavers here and there. Please let me know if you think it is an improvement?

I'm gonna be honest, these guys with the admech bits are much better than the first few with the crazy hair and such IMO. Just a bit more chaosifing needed on em!

Glad you like them! Back to he other guys though... I did the base with sand and rubble and primed them black. First experimental painting schemes coming up tomorrow

Spoiler:

P.S. Never use hot air from a hair dryer to dry PVA glue near PLASTIC minis!!! Had to repair some of the swords after they wilted under the heat

Okay this is my first attempt at an idea for a colour scheme. So I have gone for a weathered grimy look... please let me know if you think it looks good, then I can continue to paint there other ten million miniatures like this! I am a complete novice painter, but maybe by the 250th trooper I will be an intermediate

Spoiler:

Primed: Chaos Black

Armour Base: Zandri Dust
Armour Layer: Ushanti Bone
Armour Wash: Seraphim Sepia
Armour Mud: Typhus Corrosion

Recess Base: Abaddon Black
Recess Layer: Skavenblight Dinge

Metallics Base: Ironbreaker
Metallics Rust: Typhus Corrosion followed by Ryza Rust
Metallics Layer: Runefang Steel

I like the mud and grime on the torso. If the rest of the model was dirty like that (maybe not as much so you can still distinguish him from the base) it would be amazing!
Overall a very nice scheme though!

Woa what is that movement tray?

They're from http://war-bases.co.uk/index.php?route=product/category&path=68_167

I then based it and undercoated it. Going to fit 3mm magnets in those small holes and figure out what to attach to the base to hold on to the magnet - any ideas?

After the third miniature was painted I decided to change how I did the final armour layer. Instead of carefully painting it on all the exposed surfaces (which takes me a long time, and the result isn't very good) I decided to drybrush the final armour layer on, which meant I interferred with some of the other parts of the model, but is abou one hundred times faster. I have alot of miniatures to paint and I think the result doesn't detract at all from the miniature, what do you guys think? Please let me know... here is a picture of a completed squad of ten infantry:

These guys look outstanding! I love them!

Also: thanks for the site you bought the movement tray from, will definetely use them in the future for trays and custom tokens.
Very fair shipping prices to Germany, too.

Thanks Hanskrampf, yeah they're solid movement trays.

First attempt at painting a Mutant very quickly to get an idea what colour scheme works. It's a bit bland but I'll figure it out to make it pop more. I forgot to base before undercoating, oops!

Spoiler:

Mutant Rabble and Command Squad behind, glue drying then ready for painting...

Dude, those look great! The only criticism I have with the mutant is that all of the black looks, well, boring. Maybe some stripes or symbols?

I do this - just glue a penny to the underside of the base - I scrape the words and the little dome in the centre of the base off first, so its all flat and you get better surface contact for the glue.
This method also gives enough clearance that you don't necessarily have to make the magnet flush to the movement tray - mine don't have that little hole in the bottom, so I just glue my magnets on top, and the bases still sit flush to the bottom of the tray

Hey all, new update on my autocannon teams.

Spoiler:

Do you think the scale of the sand bags is alright? I've built up the earth on the front facing side of the sandbags to give a 'dug-in' feel to the autocannon teams.

The sandbags are perfect! Very scenic. Will the gunners be like your regular troops?

Made in gb
Dakka Veteran

Yes they'll be wearing their carapace style armour for the 5+ Flak save they'll be receiving. I will use the crouching pose on the Eisenkern legs for all of them

And thank you I'm going to paint the gunners seperately, just need to finish assembling them and putting all the extra bitz with the Autocannon that you'd expect to see.

Are the sandbags textured or are they just flat? Could I get a close up?

There's a very fine criss-cross pattern.

Alright, I was just worried that they weren't textured at all. This should be really cool!

I have tried out a different colour scheme for my army and here is the first example, using the Renegade Disciple's I converted. The scheme is a bit bland but sometimes less is more and I think a table full of Renegades looking like this would be great! Any suggestions on how I could make it slightly more interesting? Thanks all!

I like the one handed bolter! Will this scheme be used for leaders and elites or what?

Made in gb
Dakka Veteran

Thanks.. I was thinking of stripping my other models and repainting all like this. One of the advantages of this scheme is I can do it really quickly. The boltgun is actually an autogun, I figured sticking that bit on the front, reducing its calibre, would make it clear to opponents. The base is too big, but I'll change it to a 25mm one it's a 32mm right now just don't have any more 25mm ones. Leaders and Enforcers will be on 32mm bases as they have more than one wound. Champions will have melta bombs to distinguish them.

Do what you like, but I think the old scheme looked very nice. Either way, this army will turn out badass

Do you think some transfers on the clothing or weapon would help make it pop? I have quite a few.

SPACE MARINES
imerial guard
skitarii

space marines: an army where if morale is down you look at your commander for inspiration and you valiantly fight on and kill m any in the name of the emperor

imperial guard: if morale gets low your commander shoots one of your comrades and expects that to encourage you

At present your scheme is very limited in its palette - black and steel. If you introduced a spot colour (red, gold, etc.) that may make it more lively

Really cool stuff, I like the 3 ladies. The first one does look like she's aiming that thing purposefully at a weird angle, I liked her best when you had shaved the original arms down
