Hello all,
I'm making a mixed gender Chaos Renegade force. Here is an example of my first warrior. She has the female eisenkern backplate and legs, with scions arms and chestplate, dark eldar head (will make it look more human later). Some of the daemonette heads work well too if you adjust for the neck size. What do you all think? I know there is a gap under the front of the scion breastplate I will fill that with greenstuff, but it seems to be more realistic that there would be more of an 'overhang' with that kind of armour depending on your pose. One problem I see with using scion arms is that they're a bit bulky for the scale, but I think they're just about small enough to pass due to the scion breastplate and thick eisenkern legs. I am trying to make my model look human, female (I will be including male warriors too using the male eisenkern legs, backplate), but still being able to reach that 70% threshold for the miniatures to be legitimate in Games Workshop stores, otherwise I would have definitely used the Eisenkern arms.

What do you all think? I know there are mould lines but what can I do to improve? Is the scale way way off? I want to continue this theme with the entire army. I wanted females that weren't oversexualized and looked fairly realistic tough troopers which is hard to achieve (the eisenkern arse doesn't really help me with that, but I'll let that one go (

Spoiler:

If you all think the arms are way off I am open to suggestions, but they need to be able to equip a last pistol and close combat weapon and be uniform (ie necromunda bitz wont do, and it has to be games workshop official because I'm really close to the threshold of not being able to play it in games workshop stores)

Thanks for reading all

Any feedback?

I'm guessing it doesn't look very good due to the bulky arms. I will try and figure out how to reduce the shoulder width maybe some kit bashing with the eisenkern and or dark Eldar arms but still keep the scion style. The eisenkern arms are in rifle posture though.

So I shaved off the inside of the arms so they are less wide. The shoulder pads look really in proportion for a female now but the arms are still too big. Here are some photos with a shotgun instead of las pistol.

What do you think?

Spoiler:

Next phase I will try and put the dark Eldar arms under the shoulder pads. The dark Eldar arms alone are actually far too small and out of proportion in my opinion, but with the shoulder pads might look alright. The eisenkern arms are simply in the wrong posture for what I want to achieve but the size is good.

Dark Elf Arms:

Spoiler:

With the shotgun and the eisenkern arms.

Note that the left shoulder is not aligned, that will be fixed if I decide to use this as an option. This would be good for my Disciples Command Squad as they cannot take close combat weapon and pistol, but they can take shotguns.

Still kind of rough at the moment but I think I have the scale right now... problem is I only have female rifle posture arms from the eisenkern kit. Basically I chopped off the shoulder pads and replaced them with the Scion shoulder pads, I think it looks alot better. Now to find some dual weapon posture arms the same style and look as the eisenkern ones.

Is this an improvement? What do you think guys? I think she makes a really cool looking Renegade 163 more to go...

Spoiler:

P.S. My greenstuff work is appalling please ignore that, and the model has alot of cleaning up on it to do.

Side by side shot with the other model, where I tried to merge the two different torso parts with greenstuff (no clue how to use greenstuff, was using my modelling knife to manipulate it)

Just found that there is an Eisenkern upgrade kit with different arms postures and the command squad has different arm postures too. Hoping they're the same size as the female eisenkern arms or too similar to tell the difference... Then I will do the same process for the laspistol and close combat renegade. Got to wait till it arrives in the post though

Thanks for your feedback guys, I'm quite happy with the shotgun posture, just need more shotguns!

I have attempted to modify a hotshot lasgun into a lasgun using some ideas from google, but to fit the eisenkern rifle arms in the correct position means the shoulders again are a bit too broad. The shotgun was perfect because its actually upside down and it just works with the eisenkern rifle arms keeping them close enough together.

Anyhow here it is, let me know if you think it's okay... obviously needs a clean up, it's more about posture and scale.

Cheers!

I would use a wet modeling knife to trim the join at the necks a bit. The crease in the middle is a great idea, but its a little too bulky right now....like a turtleneck instead of a joined airlock kinda thing.

Tried to do what you said and trim down the neck.

I also got my shotguns in the post and switched the first model to shotgun with eisenkern rifle arms. Here they are all posing together!

Next one coming tomorrow. Still awaiting my eisenkern males in the post!

Does anyone know where this mini is from?

Spoiler:

I'd like to convert it into my Renegades, specifically for the head/hair part of the model.

Google Image Search tells me that this conversion was produced by a dakka user named Baiyuan, you could send him a PM or something and ask him.

I can't remember where I found the picture. I think maybe when I googled female scions. Thanks Aldo I'll send him a PM and yes looks like a heavily modified dark elf witch head! Shame the kit is so expensive.

Lookin good.

The more you work with GS, the more of a feel you'll get for proportions. Just use a bit maller blob on the necks, then put the crease in with a modeling knife.

The heads work really well with those bodies. Very cyber-punk.

My men eisenkern arrived.

I need to give my arch demagogue two power fists, any human sized ones that look similar to the scion kit version that go on the other hand?

I just checked its right handed like the scion version. I did find one though:

Can't find any will have to buy from forgeworld. Do many of the head options from the seekers of Slaanesh kit look human enough to be used on..humans? (A few in the daemonette kit do)

A quick question on a photo of some great looking Imperial Guard conversions:

Spoiler:

Can anyone tell me where the rebreathers from the highlighted (1,2,3,4) troopers are from?

Photoshopping the heads in is a good idea, but I lack the skills (:

Eisenkern male arms would work for females, the hands are bigger but only very slightly you could never tell from a distance. So that means I can order the command squad eisenkern with close combat and pistol arm postures to use for all my troopers. I must say the quality on these eisenkern kits is great.

3 and 4 are from the Cadian upgrade set from Forge World. Number 3 has had the hat added but number 4 looks straight out of the kit.

Not sure about 1 and 2 but the goggles look like Victoria Lamb conversion parts so I would guess the heads are hers too.

The troops in the pic are from a great plog on Ammobunker, I'll see if I can find it and see if he says how he did thhe conversions.

He usually uses a lot of Elysian and cadian parts but modifies them with green stuff and third party bitz.
