Iron Warriors. Had a big read through the Red Book to try and work out which legion could get the most use out of Cataphractii terminators from Calth as I fell in love with the models. Found Siege Tyrant's, bought many terminators and remembered that I actually enjoy straight metallic paintjobs(but hate hazard stripes so they just aren't happening on my force.). One day or another my crazy Rocket Vomit pride of the legion army will win a game.

Oh and of course there's the fluff side of things for Iron Warriors decidely hit and miss I must say, nearly put me off the whole project. I'm still not entirely sure why they are a traitor legion, didn't appreciate the "Hollow Crown" box out in Book 3:Extermination which is basically forgeworld admitting they don't have a clue. Normally I'm against the book glut of the Black Library Horus Heresy series, but Iron Warriors could definitely do with a dedicated novel to cover their pre-Dropsite massacre journey. Perturabo juvenile temper tantrums and decimation of his legion also soured me on it. I did like the overall structure and ethos of calculated mechanical war that was presented throughout the rest of the Legion's background piece but they made the sudden moments of madness stand out even more. Solutions present themselves in playing either Loyalist Iron Warriors(Love Kyr Vhalen and the battle of Paramar) or a Traitor Great Company under Censure after pissing off old Perty on one of his bad day's when my army needs to be "bad guys".

Iron Hands. They are loyalists that weren't zealots. They lost their leadership but wernt destroyed like the salamanders or raven guard. Love the fluff and characters. Plus they appear in the books like a wild card constantly harassing traitor forces, often successfully.

Why not change from IW? You really don't seem to like them at all and only chose them 'cause the Tyrants and the scheme?

I'll never be able to repay CA for making GW realize that The Old World was a cash cow, left to die in a field.

Sometimes I ask myself the same question. I do like the grim siege bastards of mecha-stalin side to the Iron Warriors but its all surface appeal. I just find myself put off whenever I start touching on the Black Library/Forgeworld material which is a bit of a downer. It also took me quite a while to decide on a Legion that I liked which wasn't already played by regulars at my FLGS. If they weren't already so bloody popular than my way I'd be a Word Bearers player because of First Heretic and run around with screaming mobs of Gal Vorbak,or If I had read "Prince of Crows" before I'd finished assembling and painting my army the I would be getting my Murder-Batman on with the Night Lords. Imperial Fists might even have been an option if I didn't possess an intense dislike of the colour yellow. So its Iron Warriors for me for now, until I see something that's a better fit. Who knows, maybe they'll get a nice ADB novella or feature piece in one of the Forgeworld books that doesn't make me cringe!

well, if you're just in it for sieges, why not bring some poison siege guys? Today, for the low low price of repainting what you own, you TO can own an crack force of elite death guard! Yes death guard, immune to fear and pinning checks, they can be just as "siege-y" as iron warriors, with the added benefit of POISON EVERYWHERE and the ability to have ARMY WIDE move through cover, forced re-rolls of any successful poison or fleshbane attack towards you, and rad grenades on every character! AND almost all of their fluff is amazing (barring the re-wrights that make Mortarion all "gettin' into daemons" thing, though even then it's pretty neat.) Then again, I may be a bit biased

Nothing wrong with loving your legion! I'm the awkward one here who's half hearted about their choice, who would've thought that a decision primarily driven around models/rules from a 40k old hand could create an issue in a more fluff driven game system? Death Guard just aren't for me. I really liked the Dusk Raider fluff, but much less keen on them once they became the Deathguard. Nurgle has always squicked me out since I was a kid so not going near that side of things with a bargepole, oh and of course theres already a guy playing them at the FLGS so I don't want to be stepping on his toes. That's the problem with lucking out on finding a local thriving 30k scene and getting a chance to join with Calth, it limits your options if you don't want to play the same army as anyone else!

I want to start a Blood Angels force. Red is my favorite color and it makes them stand out on the battlefield! There is also something majestic about the Legion in my eyes, I'm reading Fear To Tread and it makes Sanguinius live up to the nickname of the Angel. It's a real shame that the Legion rules have not been released yet, so I'll have to make them fabulous by myself!

There's no turning back... Triumph or oblivion.

Iron Hands 'cos TANKS, TANKS and cogs. I like the 'steampunk-y' feel to them, and their reaaly humble, get-stuff-done attitude during the HH. Also, they weren't the jerks they are in 40k.

I'm also leaning towards Iron Warriors, and TBH the fluff at face value did kinda turn me off of them. Having read most of Angel Exterminatus though I find myself liking them and Peturabo a lot more. He's more misunderstood and mistreated than the other traitor primarchs (Magnus not withstanding), and he actually sees the betrayal as something done for the greater good of humanity (having been on the crappy end of the stick for so long and experiencing the downward trajectory of the Imperium first hand).

The Legion itself is just tough as nails, no nonsense, grimy siege breakers, and that's something I really dig from a background stand point. It's represented perfectly in the tabletop as well. I could run a non-seige tyrant army and still feel like I was getting a lot of mileage out of them just being Iron Warriors.

If you like your shooty straight and simple Imperial Fists, they fire Bolters at BS5 and get Tank-Hunters for free on their Heavy Support squads. Not overly sold on their Rite of War as I'm not a big believer in Breacher squads, but I'm sure someone can pop along to extol its virtues. Overall Imperial Fists just take simple cheap units and make them better by being Imperial Fists, so if you want to play a Loyalist Legion then go do them.

Iron Warriors add some cool Specialist shooting units in the form of Siege Tyrants(All Cyclone's all the time) and Iron Havocs(Heavy Support with Tank Hunters, Cheap Missile Launchers and Reduce Cover Saves) which they pay extra for but are very very good units. One again the Rite of War is more of a fluff thing. Another thing to note is that Iron Warriors take no LD tests from shooting casualties so will keep firing until they are dead or in an assault. So if you want Shooty Traitors then join up with the IVth.

I am starting Raven Guard, mainly because I already play RG in 40k. But I really like their infiltrating rules (who can say fury of the legion turn one) and their special units are super cool.

I went with Iron Warriors because i enjoy their paint scheme, and i actually like their background fluff. The methodical, mechanical, mathmatical way that they proceed to war. The enemy has 20000 men.. we can send 24000 at them, and loose up to 80% and still decimate their forces.. send the first wave in.

Besides, hazard stripes are cool!

Oh stop complaining, its for the greater good... Now get in the box!

I'm more an agressive player who hate people who stand behind an ADL.

In 40, I played a heavy tank company of IW with khorn deamons, a Raven Guard jump pack army with Korvydae or Nidz.

World Eaters was the only logical choice for me. No money to buy chaine axes, i made it with blob of bolters. I add some mechanicum to my WE just because I like robots.

I'm still torn; Imperial Fists, Wolves, Salamanders, or Death Guard.

Imperial Fists - unbreakable and devoted. I love their do or die attitude.

Wolves - Pre heresy wolves are so cool, and I love me some Leman.

Salamanders - The heroes, not aloof and arrogant, but more like the good guys you WANT saving the galaxy.

Death Guard - hard and uncompromising warriors that don't care about battle honors or vainglorious crap. They know what they're here to do and they're going to do it. And they don't paint their armor save the shoulder identifier.
