Getting reskinned Space Marines is very cool, especially if they keep being free. That'd be a great holiday thing, while they work their way through any number of Chapters.

May I ask, is there any kind of loose timeline on when other fleets could show up in the game? (That is, Eldar, Orks, etc., not just reskins.)

They're not reskins (well, sorta). Flesh Tearers ships are more expensive than their Blood Angels counterparts, have less leadership upgrades, and come in less squadron configurations. In exchange, they are wayyyyy faster.

Boarding torpedoes won't hit your own guys... if you have them (i.e. SM/Tyranids). The glorious Emperor of Mankind has determined that his most mighty Navy has no need for such weapons, and should it be necessary to fire torpedoes through near an allied vessel, then it will suffice to recite the Litany of Sacrifice (and hope that any "friends" who survive aren't the type to hold grudges).

Im enjoying the game, but I've hit a point where I can't progress in the campaign. The battle on Ixoi, where you have to hold three zones, seems impossible. The Imperials dont have enough firepower, and the tyranids are too numerous/too tough to get off the objectives by the end of the 6th turn. Throw in some really stupid bugs (like torpedoes jumping from one squadron to another) and I'm stuck. Has anyone managed to beat this mission?

I'll chime in on this too: I did finally beat it with both objectives (at once!) since unlike every other mission it appears you can't just beat it, then go back and complete the other objective.

So after lots of trial and error, I ended up using the retro order to keep all my light cruisers/cruisers on my side. All the escorts got the all ahead full order. Then they generally messed with the nids till the turn counter goes out. I end up taking the top left (with the single nid light cruiser) corner pretty frequently, since you can lure the big group of escorts toward the middle/other side and they can't get back in time to contest. This is also where I discovered that any group of 3+ escorts can be amazing at ramming cruisers to death. Possibly even better then trying to shoot. Tactics-wise it also got me to start to use escorts to exploit the swarm tactics; they jet away from my long range guns, the nids follow, and lance/nova shots eventually pick apart the mass escorts.

Overall I really am enjoying the game, it feels just like playing BFG again, right down to cursing incredulously at my dice.

I'm playing each turn for as long as I can (currently around turn 35 or so) and I'm just over 50%.

Yeah. The 'Nids were a good choice for AI bad guys - they are predictable (ish) and have several weaknesses hidden in their rules. Quick advice:

a) Assault Boats & Thunderhawks are essentially a one-shot-kill against Kraken, as is Teleport Assault. An emperor-class can wipe out a huge, menacing-looking swarm without breaking a sweat.

b) Fast strafing runs by escorts are key to taking out a hive ship. Whenever an imperial ship moves into contact with a tryanid one, or vice-versa, if the tyranid ship has a spore cloud a blast marker is created. This is bad for you for boarding actions, but if you're moving, and continue to move, and move away, the tryanid ship is now left with a blast marker taking down one of its 'shields'. A squadron of frigates overflying a hive ship and pulling a 90' turn after their move can actually drop half its shields in the movement phase before they open fire.

c) Unless they've got a hard-coded mission objective, tyranids will always go for the closest, easy prey. If you want to be callous, sacrificing a destroyer squadron and yelling "Look! Free Kibbles!" whilst the rest of your fleet lines up for a Lock On! strafing run is probably worth the casualties.

d) The Saint Arabella is just rubbish, at everything. Don't ask me why. It's stats look good. But it always misses easy shots and seems to take the worst possible critical results...

Liking the extra missions. Not a massive fan of boarding, but - given that it's flesh tearers - I'm going to have to get used to it.

Since the setting is the Leviathan campaign, it's not impossible that the Necrons might make an appearance.

Has anyone tried this on Bluestacks for PC? I haven't ponied up for it yet, a little worried that it won't function. Damn it looks good though!

I would kill for a Steam version of this for PC. I'll even take a quick 'n dirty port.

Mobile devices are just not for me, gaming-wise.

The BlueStacks I mention above is an Android OS for Windows. I haven't tried it with this game, but it works well for Warroom2 and some other random apps I downloaded.

So we already got Necrons, who's next.

Based on the latest tease I predict Demiurg!

Ive read some reviews, and seems pretty mixed on it.

While it is easy to drop hundreds on models and usually easy to buy that 60$ console game, 10 bucks for a mobile game I am unsure of seems like quite the expense.

Any balance issues, or replay ability issues? It seems like it came out, then faded off, then a resurgence of necron now chaos factions. Which I only assume will lead to Eldar and Tau.

Does it make you need to buy anything or does the 10$ get you all factions/ships/etc

I'm weird. I never played BFG when it was out but over the last year spent (COUGH-COUGH-COUGH) on ships. But not too many BFG ships, @#$%ing Space Fleet ships. And then finally played BFG in Japan of all places.

And this game.

I've been kind of down on video games for a while now, I'd rather read, paint or watch a movie, so this is one of the few I have on my tablet.

No issues, it's an almost perfect port of BFG as far as I can tell. The enemy AI is not great but for a fun, check your brain and blow up space ships game it's fine.
