I would say I have a black thumb, but I'm not good at vehicle repair either. I just kill plants by being around them.

I have been doing well this year - I have an olive tree that is looking settled outdoors and I am hoping it won't get killed by winter. It isn't a vain hope; there are olive trees that do grow and bear fruit as far north in england as Sheffield, apparently. I also have a Kumquat tree that has just come into flower and I am hoping to get some fruit from. last year we made an excellent marmalade from the fruit.
On the windowsill in my study, the succulents are doing well although one cactus is leaning alarmingly - I think I am over-watering it.

It's more "black thumb" for me. If it's green and you want me to look after it, you'll be getting a new plant when you get back.
Unless it's something that thrives on neglect.
My sister can kill Aloe Vera (a plant that thrives on being ignored). She thought you had to water it twice a day and it died from root-rot.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.
That is not dead which can eternal lie ...
... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.

The only plants I’ve ever successfully looked after were a cactus that got so big it stretched the pot it was in, and a stone plant. They’re supposed to be grey and dull-looking, like a stone. Mine went green and sprouty.
