GW might be willing to take a giant dump on one of the more popular factions, but I doubt it. Yes everyone wants to see their favorite opponent taken down a peg or two. But this isn't "I'm mildly annoyed that Logan is Santa Claws, and that Wulfen are prancing ballerinas". This is much more frack you GW I'm never playing your crap again and badmouthing you to everyone I know stuff. I could be wrong, they could want to remove Space Wolf fans from their player base.

I'm not saying this because its Leman Russ, it would be the same for any faction. Seriously pick a faction, decide to turn that factions greatest hero into a bad joke. See how many players of that faction it endears. Old GW, I could see it, they didn't give a rats ass what you thought, it was their way or the highway. New GW is actively trying to please their customer base.

I like Space Wolves. It is not a joke, it is a tragic story. Perfect shiny hero returning and being perfectly heroic and saving the day is just nauseatingly lame (See: Guilliman.) Said hero returning as a monster, gripping to his last shreds of sanity, being feared and vilified, is cool. But what do I know, a lot of people seem to just want flawless shiny superheroes. I though this franchise was supposed to be about grimdark or something...

They want more Mary Sues with plot armor.

Bow down to Guilliman for he is our new God Emperor!

Martel - "Custodes are terrible in 8th. Good luck with them. They take all the problems of marines and multiply them."

"Lol, classic martel. 'I know it was strong enough to podium in the biggest tournament in the world but I refuse to acknowledge space marines are good because I can't win with them and it can't possibly be ME'."

DakkaDakka is really the place where you need anti-tank guns to kill basic dudes, because anything less isn't durable enough.

No, but then neither are the lap dogs of the Emperor.

Every other thread in here discussing primarchs has people chiming in on The Lion being a traitor when it's an absolute fact otherwise, so why should Wolfy McWolferton be any different?

"Absolute fact", I feel like that might be a slight exaggeration.

Fake news aside, I would love to have imperial or chaos models without chaos/imperium keywords, but with controversial second-tier keywords, like Khorne, Space Wolves.
Even more models with Imperium/Chaos keywords like Cypher would be a breath of fresh air.

I think GW wasted potential of Roboute’s conflict with Ecclesiarchy, and subsequent Lorgar reinstatement as a Loyal “defender of Faith”. Both with clumsy Fall of Cadia plot and with pile of 30k fluff which burried Lorgar balls deep into the chaos.

40k as a board game lacks (im my humble opinion) motivation for most of the inter-factional conflict. We all know story behind Grey Knights and Space Wolves after Armageddon, we all know how inquisition approaches certain heresies, but Sisters of Battle fighting, say, Imperial Fists, clearly requires higher level of abstract thinking and imagination.

What I say, Imperium needs civil war like nothing else.

Great. I was really dismayed at the choice of Khorne for this profile, mostly because it seemed to imply he needed to be in continuous combat.

Can you update it to make him a denzien of Tzeentch? For some reason, I find it more believable for him to share Magnus' fate.

I don't think he has enough wounds for a model that needs to walk up the board. Can you add a stronger invul save and add 5 more wounds?

Top notch fake though, I was really excited for this! A good conversion with Forgeworld's "Samus" model would look awesome.

IF it was true, i would be breaking the nose of every World Eaters player spitting at my feet like a petulent child.

You might want to re-read that. Russ held back to trap Angron and try to get him to resist. It was generally considered an embarrassment for the World Eaters.

To the primary subject: As a Space Wolves player I think GW have already made SW the biggest joke chapter/legion with Wolfy McWolfington, Murder McMurderbot prancing ballerina werewolves, and Santa Grimnar. If they further this by making Russ a giant joke, either as a chaos model or a giant dog, I'll just ditch SW. I understand the feeling that not every character should be a Mary Sue. But on the other hand I don't want what should be the centerpiece model of my army to be a giant dog or chaos model. If I wanted a giant beast I probably wouldn't play Space Marines, if I wanted a chaos model I'd probably play chaos, who already have a crapton of giant centerpiece models.

It's fake news, but...

As a Deamon Primarch, how scary can he be? While the Space Wolf Primarch, Leman Russ was kind of a... . Every fight he got into with another Primarch... he lost. Fights Emperor, gives it his all, Emp pimp slaps him and down he goes. Fights the Lion, and goes down after one punch. When he shows up to reign in Angron, they fight and Russ loses. Shows up to fight Magnus, and Magnus is all like "Nope. Not gonna happen" Psychic Slap and Magnus teleports away. Fights Alphurus, and loses. So I gotta ask... did Russ ever win a fight? He seems to know how to talk a lot and party, but when it comes to actual fighting? Has Russ ever won a battle?

Again re-read your fluff. Russ broke Magnus' back over his knee. Magnus escaped not won, escaped. Russ and Jonson fought MANY duels and the one you brought up Russ had stopped fighting because of how silly it was, Jonson just thought he was being laughed at. The Emperor, who is after all the Emperor and whom held back against Horus, had to resort to a Powerfist to stun Russ after hours of fighting. Russ held back against Angron. Russ eliminated the unnamed 2nd and 11th Primarchs. But sure he never once won a fight.

Why Aye Ya Canny Dakkanaughts!

Re-read your fluff mate; Magnus held back against Russ because he didn't want to kill his brother, he was in part distracted since he was also holding back the entire SW and SoB assault and Russ needed help from his pet wolves to stop Magnus. And since Russ' objective was to destroy the Thousand Sons and Magnus' was to save them, I think Magnus won that.

If his objective was to be forced to flee, then yes he won.

Why Aye Ya Canny Dakkanaughts!

"Forced to flee" - have you not even read about the burning of Prospero? He didn't want to flee, he wanted to die but save his legion. He never wanted Tzeentch to save him and raise him to Daemonhood, the fact that Russ failed to destroy the Thousand Sons even though Magnus wanted and expected Russ to kill him is kind of embarrassing for Russ.

In all honesty, it's said that nether side was sure if they won or lost; Russ held a better 'tactical' position cause the World Eaters were all wild all over the place, but more wolves died. It shows the differences and similarities between wild savagery and tactical savagery: sort of an "ends justifying the means" scenario. World Eaters killed more, but didn't do it with the controlled restraint that SW did - hence Kharns quote about the World Eaters changing their name from the War Hounds.

HOWEVER, I was mostly taking this as an opportunity to stick out my tongue and waggle my fingers at those Space Pups, the implication being they aren't good at being the Savage Loyalist Army OR the Savage Chaos Army, and one guy took it a little too seriously You'd think if they were so bloodthirsty, they wouldn't get so uptight about proving it sounds like compensation...

Ha, Its a game. Written by GW. You cannot take it seriously. Mostly I groan when they do stupid fluff things. And hope that in the crap they throw against the wall some of it ends up looking decent. Their models are usually good, which is what keeps me interested.
