I was pretty pro-squat, but this post makes a good point. We have too many analogues to the failed WHB system and its lore. We need more unique stuff before we go diving into more classic fantasy stuff. 40k has some crazy alien races - would love to see one of them first.

I'd really like to see the Demiurg as something kind of like the Deep Dwarves from Summoner Wars. Obsidian skinned, red eyed "molten men" kind of thing. Ancient, shrewd, humorless; focused on extracting useful resources from planets above all else kind of thing. Allies well with Xenos, not so much humans.

They could be a natural foil to the Mechanicus. same belief in machine cult but are actually developing new stuff. Cawl likes them, rest of mechanicus doesn't.

Tau are a nod to fuedal Japanese. If you’re looking for a WHFB equivilant, it would be Cathay.

I do hope they bring them back, but not as Imperials. I like the Demiurg idea, but I'd like them to look like AoS dwarves.
I can see them feeling as if the Emperor abandoned them to the 'Nids and they're rather bitter about it. Automatically Appended Next Post: Remember now...the Squats weren't disappeared due to flagging sales. They sold well. They disappeared because the Designers lacked imagination to reinvent them.

Finally got the video to load and play. Haha! Quite good.
And that model looks legit too. I'd be excited for that.
But alas I have too much to paint to justify necromunda... If they did a Mordheim release, well... Painting would have to wait.
GW could probably get away with space dwarfs, I would be interested in them because let's face it, even though it'd be a rehash of an old idea space dwarfs would be a fresh new army and we could really use that.

I see them as more engineers than scientists, understanding how technology works and using it to a high standard, but probably fairly slow at developing anything other than minor refinements. Still more forwards than Imperium or Necrons, but not as rapid to progress as Tau.

Anyway I thought these guys were wiped out, and is there really that much interest in squats? They seem really lackluster to me compared to other factions. Personally I hope it's just the one model
I find that comment really rude. I hope they only ever make one more of whatever army YOU play!
If you don’t like squats, no-one making you buy them.
End rant. :-(

But you see the fluff says your wrong. They had space fleets. During one conflict they were in short supply of munitions to make their normal massive tanks. So they quickly took a Space Fleet sized Laser and put it on a Leviathan and created the Cyclops Titan destroyer. One image showed a cyclops completely annihilating a Tyranid Bio Construct and its hordes.
They invented most everything the Imperium uses or found. Many STC patterns come from the Squats. the Ad Mech will do anything to get squat info but the squats think of them as some backwards religious zelots rather than engineers....what with their canticles and mysticism over technology.
Cyclops, Land Trains, Leviathans and Colossus....These are some of the beasts.....only matched by the few might Capital Imperialis that the Imperium own. The squats make use of those as standard unlike the Imperium.

I would love to see the Demiurg as a box set for either the Tau, or a part of a Mercenary Faction Tau/Eldar/Imps can use.
I would much prefer them to have an alien design with dwarf features, i.e. short with something resembling a beard. Like an armoured fish, an armadillo, or just left to the imagination and given opaque helmets. The 40k universe is meant to be vast, however you'd explain it (lost colony) I don't think it'd be cool having another faction resembling humans.
Apparently they are very drone and mining focused, so maybe some-sort of drilling-golem or laser-mining-platform could be included. And you could have some nods to dwarf-culture in the lore, like replace the book of grudges with some sort of Archive of Outstanding Debts, send bills to the enemy for damages suffered, then send the debtors in. Instead of living in mines, they orbit around the asteroid belts of planets they've blown up for not paying admin fees.
Squats though, meh, I think they should stay dead as a faction, the odd survivors of their race popping up every now and then is awesome, but the game doesn't need another major imp-aligned faction, especially if they're another power-armor line.
At least that's my opinion lol.
