Extras had a pretty good ending.

I think it helps that Gervais can keep a show to 12-14 episodes, rather than letting it drag on interminably and aimlessly with nine more seasons of tangentially-related content like a lot of shows from across the pond do.

It's a good point. For a lot of finales, there just isn't that much to work with at that point--the characters and situations have been wrung dry.

I'm not a fan of the finale of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but considering how visibly run-out-of-steam season seven was at that point (You know the heroine who deals with monsters by hitting them? Don't give her a final boss that can't hit or be hit by anything! ) they did a decent job.

"The 75mm gun is firing. The 37mm gun is firing, but is traversed round the wrong way. The Browning is jammed. I am saying "Driver, advance." and the driver, who can't hear me, is reversing. And as I look over the top of the turret and see twelve enemy tanks fifty yards away, someone hands me a cheese sandwich."

Seasons 6 and 7 of Buffy were both pretty joyless. The show hit the point where they had no idea what to do except make the characters suffer, which wasn't what I watched Buffy for. The First Evil and ...uh...the Firefly guy as a priest... were poorly handled villains, and the payoff for the build up for them was not thought through.

Angel had a better final season, but it still felt rather aimless until the final episode.

I know there's still 10 episodes of Arrow left in September. However, I feel they're a little more of an epilogue or a postscript, with the real finale of Arrow being the end of this season.

To be honest, I'd say it's pretty perfect.
