Antares could have been a much bigger deal if they had invested a little more into it. Modern plastics are great...but they only have a handful of plastic kits. Most of their miniatures are expensive metals, many of which look dated already. Their tie-in fiction is exciting, but there's nothing to bridge the reading experience with the modelling/gaming experience, at least for me.

It feels like they are still trying to compete against the second tier wargames of 1999.

Yes . Their newest army release was also in metal, the Askar, or something like that. I have bunches of Plastic Algoryn, C3 and Ghar. Their big tanks being Resin is also not helpful , though ordering it in pounds sterling and letting my bank do the exchange rate was always a win when the holiday deals popped up.

Got mine this morning too, 4x 6th rates. Only had the quickest of looks at the sprues but they do look good.

Quite pleased they seem to scale well with the old Pirates of the Carabean ships - have about a hundred of them

and thousands of others models in the que to be painted so pre made and full colour is nice.

Might just get the rules and add ons.

The PotSM ships are nominally 1:1200 scale, so a bit smaller - but they do look close enough to potentially work.
