Hey Karol,

GW has never had a qualm with charging money for books. Books are one of the things that people with “complete” collections would buy.

I *personally* wont be buying the SM codex nor do I anticipate buying any supplement for it... though I admit if the supplement for Salamanders is in the $25 CAD range I might get it for a read.

As a business model, it seems to work for GW but for me it creates wallet paralysis. My wallet is stuck in my pocket, until the rules stabilize some.

But then why not make the supplement books, have all the marine stuff too, if they have access to all the stuff. this way everyone has to buy at least 2 books instead of 1. And if they want to try out a different chapter, they have to spend even more money on the supplements.

It certainly is a mystery why GW would want people to buy more books!

but it is not very consumer friendly, and from what I have been told here, people can use digital books in other countries stores. Meaning if books get split, people will just download them for free. It is like taxs or bus tickets, when they are low, it aint worth the punishment to not pay them, but when they are high everyone stops paying or buying them.

I know, I don't get it, it's like GW wants our money or something!

making so that people download the books and don't pay them at all, doesn't seem like a good way to make money.

Clearly though this model is still working well enough for them. (And many other gaming companies.) If it didn't, they wouldn't keep printing physical books.
I'm confidant that GW knows it's business better than any of us do.

Yep, I own every 4th/5th edition codex. I still play but now 'officially' don't own any of them.
Sometimes more is less.
