I don’t know why the AT battle group is now longer available, I had hoped a new battle group was on the way to help getting more players into the game but you gotta get those record profits somehow while complaining about recasts and 3D printing.

There's rumours of a new one coming out (which may just be Knights).

Even the GW store in my home town didn´t get a box for intro games. Pretty pathetic.

Who's fault is it if the manager didn't request a demo copy? My local GW has one.

Necromunda (and Mordheim) both had the fatal flaw of requiring a large amount of dedicated terrain. It was also best played in a long running campaign/league setting. Those are two things that make a game very unlikely to become popular.

Necro gangs are 42 bucks a piece, which have to be cheaper than the metals where back in the day. GW gets players on the books and terrain.

Necromunda of the 90s required lots of terrain whereas N17 can be played in 2D and that´s what I am doing. It´s also really easy to transport. Two gangs and the numerous tiles fit perfectly in a backpack.

I was thrilled at first to get a lot of new tiles for my 2D Necromunda games like they were provided in the Badzone Delta supplement. Alas, it won´t happen. I also read somewhere that the new chaos dudes don´t have rifles/shotguns but only pistols and hth weapons. Is this true? If it is, then it is another good reason to not buy the box.

Their Juves can take pistols. Their main guys don't use ranged weapons, except for the rotary saw that they can swing out like 4". They're supposed to be really good at getting up into melee, to the point where they can make Goliaths weep. According to my friend who's got them now, he really likes this more than he thought and he says it sounds bad but works really, really well.

Alternate idea for you- you can run "Chaos Corrupted" gangs with the Book of Ruin, and you could use these guys as Khorne-worshipping Goliaths, and still put guns on them. You can buy their weapons in the trading post. I'm SO giving my one-eyed, brain-damaged Van Saar ganger a rotary saw and a bunch of Slaught.

Another Alternate Idea: Make a Venator gang, Chaos Corrupt (or not) use whatever the hell you like.

A lot of GW stores don't do the intro games unless some regulars (and big spenders) push for it and offer to help with the models. The one cool GW I sometimes visit has a "Pizza Party" for getting Demo Boxes together, so people pay in for the "party" and to be the first to see the models up close. Maybe offer this up as a suggestion.

There are some nasty tactics for the Corpsegrinders where them receiving fire/damage can lead to out of action(I believe?) reactions.

Also, there's at least flamers, heavy flamers, and harpoon guns coming for them at some point.

The new CGC Juves can take any weapons (close combat/pistol/basic/special/heavy). They are very different rules and abilities compared to other/normal Juves.

I had a theory that GW is getting a bit gutsy with the prices because of the terrain. I think they're pretty much aware that most people aren't going to go do Necromunda PUG at their local FLGS and will want to invest in terrain for their own private group.

I mean, that's what I did. Never cared for terrain until Necromunda. And that was because I'm not keen on playing Necromunda with total strangers, considering how easy it is to be "that guy" with the rules as they are. It's a gentleman's game, and I won't consider you a gentleman unless I trust you enough to come over to my house and poop with the door open.

Exalted.

I ordered the original starter instead of the new one in part for these resons but also because those two gangs in that first box are really great.

This is one of the consequences of the reduced staff counts. For a one or two man store keeping all of the required painting for the core games up to date is a big workload.
